hi st@rr, do you know how to use WAV files as ringtone. Where should I store the WAV files in order to use them. Copy to WAV to MMC first or ....
WAV files as ringtone
Hi ring ring,
Just plonk them in the "digital" folder under sound on the MMC. The phone finds them immediately in "Profiles"
Terry1100, I placed mid files under E:\system\sound\digital but i can't see them in the PROFILES. Is the path correct. please help
Open NOkia PC suite>Transfer files>the folder of the phone must be as mentioned sounds>digital>open it>transfer wav here.If it is not seen in Profiles, there is a mistake(error) on the phone
jimmy-floyd,
Can't I use my MMC to store mid or wav files so that I can access them in PROFILES.
If I put midi files in C:\system\sound
digital, I can see it in PROFILES. But not when I placed them in E: (MMC drive)
I can see mine even if I store my Wav tones in my MMC... Now, if you changed the memory in use of the sound recorder to MMC, did you copy the wav tones to the memory card? Anyway, you will still see them in the profiles. I'm sure... coz mine is in my MMC and I can still use them as ringing tone.
Hi St@rr, I have already changed the memory of my sound recorder to MMC. I copy the WAV file via card reader to the MMC (E:\system\sounds\digital\)? Can I do that or I must ...do it from the phone? I even copy midi into the above path but still cannot see them in PROFILES
I'm using Fxplorer to view C: & E:
Yes, you can do that. I don't understand what's wrong with your phone... Anyway, try moving your tones in the sound recoder to MMC using the phone itself... then look for the tone in the profiles if it's still there. If it is, then try looking for the tone you moved in Fexplorer and look at it's path. See if it's the same as where you placed your other tones. This method is long but at least you can really see if you're in the right path 😊 Anyway, keep me updated if you still can't view the tone in profiles after moving it to MMC using your cellphone. Coz mine is ok... maybe you need an upgrade or something...
Hi st@rr,
I manage to figure out, it was the path. C: & E: path are different. In C: the sound path is system\sounds\digital. Whereas in E" (MMC), the path is \sounds\digital .
Now I manage to see my own WAV in PROFILES, but was prompted error "unable tp play sound clip format" & Recorder format not supported.
My recorder version is too low? Is a normal WAV file
Pls help
That's good... anyway, are you sure it's a WAV file? maybe it's an mp3 file. coz 3650 should play wavs with no problem. What's your firmware version?
Hi st@rr
Tks. Firmware version 2.50. Nee dupgrade? Very sure is a WAV file. WAV extension (no rename).
I can play it from SOUND RECORDER from W2K very sure it cannot be a mp3 file
That's the first time I heard this problem... Anyway, where did you see the prompt? on what application? You and I have the same firmware.
Try this wav tone that I've uploaded and see if it works.
Hi st@rr,
I got the WAV file copied to the MMC and set it to be my ringtone melody. It came out something else.
I get the error msg, "File format not supported...." when play from RECORDER.
Need to use AMR converter to convert WAV file
Is there any size limit. Supposingly not
Will try the WORKIT wav tonite
Do yoy
Try the ringing tone I uploaded... save it on your recorder (make sure it's in MMC memory). I don't understand why you can't play your tones. nobody ever had a problem like yours because 3650 supports WAV files... I'm SURE. No size limit... only the memory size is the limit 😊
And for once, try registering before posting 😊
Hi st@rr,
Your WAV file work but not mine. Probably the bits of my WAV files is too large or ....
So nothing wrong with my phone
Any idea how to prevent the backlight light of 3650 goes off when taking video
a wave file can have a lot of different bitrates, a few of which may not be supported by the 3650. try to transfer the file using PC Suite. it will convert your .wav's file format to one that will work for sure. Plus, it will take a lot less space... (some wav's sound a tad worst after that conversion, but it's worth a try... )
enjoy.
we should start uploading our favourite wav files for ringtones so everyone can share them.
Wouldn't be better to convert those wav's to amr? So that the quality is pretty much the same but the ammount of space much less...
I know 3650 has MMC but that's no a reason to waste memory 😃
Just my opinion.
No,the quality of AMR is not the same, its a lot worse,AMR's dont sound good as ringtones.Try seting the wav bitrate to 44KHZ/Mono for good quality of wav files.
Hi st@rr,
Your WAV work. Tatuagem mention the birates are different. Tatuagem recommend to use PC suites as it will auomatically convert your favourite WAV to 3650 format. Files size is huge. Any editing WAV software that you can recommend in order to produce ringtone with small file zize
Use the Sound Recorder of Windows. It should be in the accessories. There, you can choose different wav codecs. Use GSM format... not PCM or other formats. GSM produces the smallest file size. And change the frequency to 22khz/mono. This is what I did...
GSM codec is really bad for small ringtone files,i guess its ok if you want a whole song, but you can have that in mp3 with a lot better quality. You can have a good quality 20-30 second ringtone in 22KHZ/MONO in less then 600KB.
If you use pc suite to upload the files to the phone, it will do the conversion for you...
why is GSM bad for small files?
Maybe i wasn't clear enough, the GSM codec is not good for ringtones. You want the ringtone to be loud and clear, right?Well with the GSM codec it wont be,because of that analog scratching thingy.Even on my 7650 which as you know doesn't have an MMC i use the PCM or ADPC codec, and as i mentioned i get great ringtones,i mean really great with size below 600K.
I have Gone till november,43 seconds of it,in 686K and it sounds great, even though its 16KHZ.I'll post an example(not gone till november),download it and convert it to use the GSM codec and see for your self.
-EDIT-
I cant upload it,the file is too big,270KB
-EDIT2-
Here it is in a two part rar archive.
Part two
Ok... I get what you mean. I've tried the PCM and ADPC before but I guess I'm just satisfied with GSM coz it gives the smallest size and quality isn't that bad coz the 3650/7650 only has mono output. But thanks for the advice 😊 I might think about this again... coz my phone isn't with me as of the moment.
I have a .wav as my ringtone. The problem is, when I preview it (select it) it plays loudly and clearly. My ring volume is set to max.
When the phone actually rings, it is so soft that I can only hear it by holding it up to my ear...
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
As I downloaded it, its in 11KHz, 8-bit, mono, PCM.. I'm busy organising another different version, hopefully with some better specs..
many experienced that problem... but I'm not sure if it can be fixed.
I downloaded a load of Wavs off a web site but when I tried to play them on the phone it just said it was incompatible. They played fine on the PC. Does anyone know of any sites that have decent wav files that will play on the Nokia 3650.
