Headphone question

Hi,

i have the following the following question. If i will put a 2,5->3,5 mm headphone adapter in the hole (i don't mean the charger hole), can i then plugin a regular headphone in the adapter and listen to music ? Or does the hole has a special architecture so that the adapter will not work ??

i know i can't use a 3,5 mm headphone because the plug is to big for the hole (sorry for my bad english)...so i asked if i could use an adapter which has on side a 2,5mm plug so that i can stick it in the phone and on the other side a 3,5mm hole so that i can stick a regular headphone in it. Anybody knows if this will work ??

Here is a litte graphic if you still don't know what i mean

I get what you mean... you want to have a connecter with a baby plug on one side and a plug(for ordinary headphones) on the other right? Hmm...I think this will work if you can look for the connector with the right plugs 😊 coz we've been looking for something like this in hardware stores and still can't find one!

These adapters exist...look here...

seems to be the right one, or ???

Cmon Shien, you know that those type of cables exist. Try looking at Concorde in SM, the ones that sell car accessories.

It's the 3-ringed 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor that's almost impossible to find.

Please call me st@rr 😊 and anyway, muzikfreakah and I were looking for it but we had no luck. I guess they really are hard to find!

Anyone living in the UK, try this link to find one:-

The adaptor will cost you 79p, but .250 P&p !! :-?

Let's hope it works, cos I've just ordered one !

As for the hdd-1 - it's crap, total rubbish. They are obviously very cheaply produced earphones and if I got them with a cd player I'd throw them away straight away and buy decent ones(Harder than you might think, its only really sony that seem to make available their top quality eachphones as a seperate item to buy)

I'll let people know how they work later this week.....

This is the correct link:-

The other one I posted was the mono version.

That was quick- I ordered it yesterday afternoon and it was on my doorstep when I left to come to work at 8am this mornign !

So, does it work ? Is it any good ?

Only used it briefly- yes it works, although you have to fiddle with it a little and not insert your headphone jack all the way.

Any good ? Well, it is a bit better that hdd-1- and at least you can wear comfortable headphones that you like.

Best of all though, is its cheap, much cheaper than buying hdd-1 so I'd recommend it if its just listening to sound you like.

MP3's still dont sound too good though- I reckon the mp3 software should be better and at least offer some sort of graphic equaliser feature so we can turn up the bass a bit !

@ST@RR- Ooops. Sorry. Try looking at Concorde.

@Furry- That is a very nice, compact adapter. Mine still has a cable in between. Will post a picture soon. But wouldn't it be nice if there was a 3-ringed adapter? I think it would be nice to have the 2.5 in one end and female RCA in another. So you can attach to your sound system, then attach a mic on the 3rd slot.

Furry: Is is the quality of the sound that you find low or the fact that only a mono feed is being sent to each earpiece giving no stereo reproduction whatsoever?

Also, is the sound a little quiet because what is happening is that a single mono channel is being 'split' into 2 channels each therefore having half the power of a single channel?

Fonzki: Where's Concorde? Is it in SM cebu? Anyway, I think muzikfreakah found one on the net 😊 But thanks!

Hi,
I posted this over at NokiaFree.org and thought maybe someone here might benefit from it. The original schematic in the picture is compliments of DaveGSM82 from that board.

Hi,
Thank you very much for posting that info. I have been searching for a while for a definative pinout. There were a few things that I figured out along the way that might be useful to other attempting this.

I checked the impedence of the speaker on the factory headset, and it read 150 ohms. The impedence of the headphones I wanted to use (Altec Lansing) were 30 ohms per speaker. If I would have paralleled them I would end up with a 15 ohm load. Way to low and might have damaged the amp and most definately would kill the battery life. I opted to series them to a 60 ohm load and it seems to work pretty good. It is much louder than the factory mono headset but the bass is lacking. Not that the factory headphone had any to start with. It would be nice to see some kind of mp3 player come with a built in EQ.

I used the jack from an old headset from my old Nokia phone. You were right in the fact that there is plenty of tag to solder to with a small soldering iron tip. Slicing away the molded plug was a little tough, but not impossible. You need to use a fresh contrctor grade razor blade and be careful not to slice off the tag when doing it. The most difficult part is dealing with small coated wires that are used in most mini headphone sets. For those who have never worked with these before, you are in for a treat. I highly reccomend using a jewlers loupe to get a closer view of your work You need to cut away the fibers that are laced in with the wires. When that's done, I used my razor knife to scrape away the coating on the ends of the wires. If you don't do this, you will have a very hard time getting solder to stick to the wire.

All said and done, I'm very pleased with the results. Other than the lack of bass, it sounds very good. I've atached a picture for reference, and hope someone may benefit from this.

Now if Nokia would just give us stereo outputs!!!

Peace,
Eidolen

you could allso just buy a nokia music player...
I did...
It's fun to talk with your friends in a pair of senheiser HD 200 headphones.

Nokia Music player is really one of the coolest stuff of Nokia!
however as of now, it only supports phones like N7250 and N6800.
