Ive just got my p800 back from celestica after 3.5 weeks.
Eager to check out my new firmware, I was disapointed to find out it had not been upgraded and they had had it for over 3 weeks.
When I called them to ask why, they told me orange have not authorised the upgrade so they couldnt do it.
has anyone else had similar problems or knows of somewhere that will do the upgrade, in manchester or leeds areas.
I know orange will probably say coz it hasnt been tested, but I feel the features that have been upgrading are worthy enough to warant an upgrade.
I tried to get it ugraded, but was told cant have it done on orange. I rang orange, they didnt know r2 was out. they said they would support it after it was approved by SE?!?! They didnt know what was going on, even the techies. I rang SE and they said they will do it at one of their service centres, neaest one to leeds is keighly. Carphone warehouse service centres wont do it. SE UK : 08708990000

I even had aproval from Sony Ericsson to do it.
There are SE service centre in Walthamstow and New Eltham, these two are authourised to upgrade orange phone, had mine done yeesterday @ the site in NEW ELTHAM in 25 MINS, Impressive eh? Call SE for ur nearest centre, dont call orange, the JOKERS havent a CLUE|
just watch out, i have orange care and i wont be covered by it or the 12 month thru orange if i get it done at the mo.
I am on Orange and I have had my firmware upgraded.
It is a bit of a Saga, but someone else one the forum (also on Orange) had his upgraded at Carphone Warehouse in the centre of Leeds. When I phoned them they gave me the line about not being approved by Orange (although he did say that this was par for the course and I could expect it to be approved in about a month).
I phoned SE and they gave me the name of Link Telecom in Keighley who did it for me without any bother. Nothing I have read in the documentation and nor has anyone at Orange has suggested to me that I couldn't do this.
I am glad I had it done, but it's not a huge upgrade. It also took them 2 hours, and there are places I would rather be for two hours than Keighley 😉 .
