Ok, I've been trying to set my phone up so I can use opera.
First tried using my IrDA connection to share the net with pc ... not very useful and couldn't get it to work anyway...
So then I got vodafone to send me the GPRS settings file, which arrived all fine and good, and gave me WAP access (big deal..) However, the settings file created an access point called GPRS WAP. Guess what... it's WAP only so I can't use opera with it.
After much searching I found a note on the vodafone website which said that the GPRS wap access point was different to the one for general data - but do you think they list the general data access point? noooooo! And nobody on the helpdesk could tell me what it was grrr..
The reason I'm asking you peep's help, is that the wap APN is live.vodafone.com - which is an international address. So I was thinking if anyone has the general data APN, I might just be able to swap it in and make everything work!!!
Of course I could be wrong, but that's why I'm askin 😊

Copy your current WAP settings but change the APN to 'internet' and the gateway IP to 0.0.0.0
Access is a bit patchy some days but it works most of the time - there is no use complaining to Voda as it is not an 'official' service and the guy on the other end of the phone won't have a clue what your on about.

Thanks dude, tried but didn't work. In opera the 'G' flashes but then dissapears again with those settings 😞
I'm looking at a 7650 right now, and it is working with those settings at the moment - be sure authentication is set to 'normal'
As I said - service is a bit patchy with Voda some days - but as of 08:41 this morning the connection is up 😊

I had authentication set to secure - changed to normal but still no go..
My full settings are:

You can also have the username as 'web' and the password as 'web' too!

Got it sorted, in the end it was nothing I was doing wrong - there was still some crap that wasn't enabled on my account GRRR.
I had to get vodafone to manually enable 1) GPRS WAP, 2) MMS, 3) GENERAL DATA ... all this took upward of 10 phone calls to about 3 different places, over 5 days.
But at last I have opera working (but only 2 days left to trial *sob* )
