Everyone has been making Oggplayers every where but no one has ever mad a new MP3 substitue player 😞 Ogg is nice but I already have around 60 gig of mp3s and converting them ogg doesnt give you that good quality anymore. From my experience, to creat good low format oggs you have to have the origibal CD's and convert them. When you convert Mp3's to ogg the results are terrible with more or less the same size 😞
I hope someone does make one soon..

Really? I use only Ogg now, some converted from CD's, and some converted from 192/128kbps MP3's, and I cannot hear much difference in quality.
What's great about Ogg is that a 64kbps Ogg file equals a 112/128kbps MP3 file in quality, but the size of the Ogg will be less than half the size of the MP3.
But for those with real delicate ears, a bigger Ogg file should do the trick(around 80kbps), and it will still be smaller than a MP3 file. 😊
Thats what I dont understand, I converted my 128mb and 192 mp3s to the "2" Ogg setting and I get terrible sound quality with pops, bubbles and clicks 😞 Any setting higher than that and they already end up as the same size as my 128mb mp3s 😞
What I am waiting for is a catch all media player to play wma and mpg's. Im fed up of converting everything.
Me too, gee.. I'm running outta space for my 128mb msd already. Memory is never enough. :-?
Im planning to get one as soon as I can afford another one 😊 Movies, dang these movies 😊
Where is everyone getting these cards? I've been on the recommended sites and they are always out of stock!! What am I doing wrong? I want movies on my phone!

You might wanna try a different converter mate! 😉
I have mine set to "0"(64kbps) with great sound output. :bday:

Try p800er.com. And if it is not in stock, try pre-ordering, then you will receive a mail once they have it in stock again.
Yeah I tried that, and someone posted here that they were in stock but I got no email, and when I went to the site, they still said out of stock!

What converter are you using? 😊
@KM most of US pre ordered from those sites. If I were you Id go ahead and order one because Im sure there is still a long line or pre orders and you will be seing those out of stock signs for quite awhile since pre orders get first priority. I got mine from brando.com.hk
Nice to know that i hve company. All the while i thought i am alone in finding the 128MB duos inadequate 😊

To convert from MP3 to Ogg I use this one: http://download.com.com/3000-2140-10133226.html?tag=lst-0-1 -At least I think that's the one, mine might be an older version, but I have the full one, I think the trial is limited..
Thanks! Anyluck on how that cool looking Oggvorbis player is going, not the free ones ut that other one, hope you get what I mean 😊
Yep, I know what you mean, but sorry, I don't know how it's coming along.. Last I heard was that the developer was away on a trip, and that he had some problems with his computer and server, that's why his site is down still I think.. :-?
After downloading and installing it tells me that my 14 day trial has expired 😞
Ive got a lower version of the AC. Is it just me or the "2" Settings appear very watery(bubbly) already 😞 Do you record in 44khz also?
I havent got perfect hearing, but the 0 setting is good enough for me, when the source is a CD (for p800 usage). Around the 3 setting is where I can't hear the difference between CD and vorbis on normal music (not the hard encoder testing clips). If you've got someplace to upload to I could drop off a couple of clips and you could compare. You might consider doing mp3s at mono 64kb if vorbis artifacts stand out for you..
Mp3 and vorbis hasnt got the same way of compressing/removing info so the artifacts manifest themselves a bit different, might be this your picking up on.
I yet have to try ripping a CD directly to vorbis. But most of my collections are on MP3 format already 😞 Ill try to tool for a place where I can upload it. I can relly hear bubbles, if I encode them in Mono wouldnt that sound bad? 😞 If so then I would just stick to Mp3's and wait for a good mp3 player then. All Im really after for the Ogg is there are really nice players and programmers seem to be working more on ogg but if I had a choice between ogg and Mp3 I would prabably stick with mp3s unless someone will do the converting of all my mp3s for me 😊

Try http://www.dbpoweramp.com - they have a free convertor that handles ogg and mp3. there's also a link to download the ogg codec.
I've converted a lot of files simply to save space on my duo. Because the original files are mp3, I get the same quality for half to two thirds the file size. Everything sounds good - no clicks or anything.
Try http://www.vorbis.com for info on which setting to use.
You might also want to contact the author of audiomagic when he comes online again. To begin with he was going to make an ogg AND mp3 player combined which would keep everyone happy ...
Can DB poweramp handle batch conerstions too? 😊
They do.
Cool!! 😊
