Hide my number limitations

I got an upgrade from SE USA but they messed up and it's not R2d. Anyway, i've noticed that if I dial a number and press the options berfore I send it it gives me the option to hide my number, however if I get a number from my contacts I cannot find a way to hide my number, it just does not give me the option any more.

I cannot remember if this was this way before the upgrade, can any of you lucky R2d guys check if you can hide your number when calling somebody from your contact list?

Thank you.

You can copy the number from your contacts, paste it in the the Telephone, and then Options ==> Hide my number.

Looks like the only way to do it 😮

Silly isn't it? I guess you can also edit the number and add *66 or whatever to it so that it blocks your number but it is a weird bug, I mean you should either have the option or not have it.

what about #31#?

i just typed in a random number, went to option 4 (withold the number) and it added #31# before it, does this change in each network/country?

also, if we name this witholding code (in my case, it's #31#) if i name it code X for the sake of this post, can i add code X to the beginning of all contacts i want my number to be withheld from? as in customise who i want my number to be displayed to?

if so, this would be great as nokias option, although easier, was to either withold all, or withold none, but some people i withold my number to, and others i don't.

#31# should work on all GSM networks methinks.

There is no reason why you cannot use it directly in your contacts list, and if you ant to be flash, you could even store their number twice -- one without the prefix (as the 'show in list' number) and once with as the number you actually dial -- the P800 will give you the option of which one to dial.

Doesn't work with SMS of course...

oh geez, now that...that's amazing, i never thought of storing each number twice, nice one

i've read most past threads on here and read about a contacts out of memory problem, will this happen to me? i'm on r2d and have contacts manager too which lets me compress the contacts every now and again, and when does the contacts run out of memory? when too many contacts are installed? or when too many apps are installed? or something else
