In the UK HSCSD is only supported by Orange, so most users of 92xx comunicators will be stuck with slow bandwidth.
Does anyone know if GPRS will be on the next gen of the 9210 and should I be waiting for that?
Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't hold your breath, to be honest, considering the amount of time it has taken to get the GPRS-less 9210i into production and the amount of time it is taking to get it into the retail channel here in the UK.
Maybe in the 93xx series, if Nokia actually carry the Communicator form factor forward that is. Personally I have my doubts about that, and suspect there will be a continuation of the functionality but wrapped up in a slightly smaller and lighter form.

Its theoretically on the roadmap for Hilden (the sucessor of the 92x0 series), but since that hasn't been announced and isn't expected until 2003 I wouldn't hold your breath.. i.e. yes, but a long wait.
You can use Extended Internet (software) together with a GRPS phone to get GRPS speeds on the 9210, but thats a bit of a long way round. If you ask me youdon't really need it - who really wants to surf the web on a screen that size? GSM is fine for e-mails -especially if you careful about what you download (i.e. checking headers first). It would have been nice to have it though.
As I understand it the reason we don't is that when they first started developing the 9210 back in 1998 it wasn't really there. The trouble is with the communicator series is they have a much longer research and desing period than most other mobiles (a good example of this is the continual delays on the sendo z100).

I think you may be right there! I'd expect the 9310 to be lighter and smaller, although perhaps a similar screensize. The sucessor to the 9210 is on Nokia's roadmap but we all know how accurate they can be!
