AudioMagic "cracked"-beta release

24 replies · 6,273 views · Started 18 May 2003

Hi,

The developer of AudioMagic(Philipp Schmid) actually announced today the release of his Ogg Vorbis player; AudioMagic, as a "cracked"-beta release, hehe...

This is his site: http://gro.o000o.org/

And this is where he announced it: http://www.my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3049&start=110 (to avoid any misunderstanding about the "cracked" part 😉 )

Cheers!

Man,you really got me going there with the topic subject 😊

I knew I would 😉

Congrats on your new moderator status btw! 😃

For awhile I thought.. never mind 😊 Now I have to really test ogg again.. Congratz also ghostdog! 😃

Raven,
Could you plz post the announcement here?
My symbian cant be joined with a hotmail address, and I sure as **** dont want my real address spammed.

spf,

Hehe, you wont get spammed mate... 😉
Is that also why you have yet to sign up in this forum?

Anyway, he didn't make a big announcement. He just said that AudioMagic is now cracked and available(at the link I posted). I think he was a little pissed about people bugging him about the release all the time.. And maybe also because OggPlay now has gotten so good, and is free, he wanted people to get a chance to try his Ogg Vorbis player too.

AudioMagic definitely has a nicer GUI, but other then that, the two Ogg players are pretty much alike. I still prefer OggPlay though, because it's smaller and uses less memory and CPU to run.

raven thnx.
I read in the read me that theres a memory 500b leak every time you start a new song.. I'll stay away until something obvious as that has been fixed, apart from that Id say oggplay does it all better, and for free.

Hehe, you wont get spammed mate...

Well the spammed thing is part of it.. Ive seen far to many insertEmailHere() to join boards and after a while I loose track of what I signed up with where (esp after a HD crash). The other thing is that I often loose interest after a couple of posts unless its a healthy discussion
For the my symbian forum its mostly that I cant even VIEW a discussion with out joining  That defeats the whole purpose of having a board. When I do a rant bout vorbis or read about jogdials at least I know that other ppl can read (and maybe even learn from) it. The other thing is that I have no clue about the level of discussion.. It could as well be 400 pages of SE commercials and 200 how do I view firmware posts.

Once Ive found a demo of codwarrior V2 C++ Ill prol join though, as I havent got a clue how to get the devkit to run with Gcc. Another shame, its not like there are no good free C IDEs around. The reason I got a p800 was for the great 3rd part possibilities, oggplay and smsplus are fine examples of this. So when SE almost completely ignores this goes on about this and that partner (metaworks) it just breaks my heart. Thats what forums are all about , once some has a good idea how to run some other IDE theyll post it, sharing what you know.. To bad it wont do smack if its in the my-symb forum.
Joining here.. well If I'm still around next month, I prol will 😊

Hehe, well I can understand your conserns, but neither this site nor My-Symbian distributes e-mails. From this site you'll get the "Your Symbian" news letter, that's all. -Which is always a very good read btw(written by the admins of this site).

I find My-Symbian to be the best for info and news, and this site for the great community. My-Symbian is heavily moderated to keep it clean from repeated and useles topics. And the reason the boards are closed for members only is because of bandwith and spammers I think. It's a popular site with the most members(I think).

Is this true? Has anyone else experienced this?

Muzikfreakah,
http://gro.o000o.org/ is down atm but if you check the comment from the developer it says something along the lines (NOT an exact quote): There's a 500b memory leak everytime you start a song, its been fixed in the updated version. (ie not the crack/demo/beta/whatever)

Raven,
I'll take my chances and join then... 😉

Ok thanks. From the link you gave it aint there but I trust you.

This is the release file for AudioMagic:

AudioMagic for the SonyEricsson P800, Version 0.9.3

Release notes:

AudioMagic does currently only support OggVorbis audio files.

This version does use quite much cpu time for playlist monitoring,
this is already fixed in 0.9.5.

This version does jitter on playback sometimes, this is already
fixed in 0.9.5.

This version has a memory leak. everytime it starts to play a title
it allocates about 500kb, so restart it frequently.

Copy OggVorbis files to:
"Internal Memory\document\Music\"
or
"External Memory\document\Music\"

http://gro.o000o.org/release.txt 😉

Thanks for the catch GhostDog

Noticed that Audiomagic shows up on the applications list in flip-closed mode - very nice.

Guys

where can we get the 0.9.5 version the
http://gro.o000o.org site only has the 0.9.3 version with memory leak, is there an audiomagic main site?

(I tried www.audiomagic.com and got a Nursing Education site!)

cheers
Jago

Yeah! I want that too (version 0.9.5, not to be a nurse!)

I'm thinking that it will probably be released soon(as buyware). The "crack" was probably meant as a "tease". 😊

If it's going to be expensive I'll rather just stick with OggPlay..

hey
i'm a betatester, but the newest version i got is 0.9.2 and i got it a month ago

So what are the differences? 😊

is the website still the same?

I havn't been able to access it since the symbian exposium.

I think if you read his site correctly, other people have already cracked AudioMagic (which I think he would be a bit p*ssed off with) - and he's only releasing this unlocked version publically for damage limitation (i.e. as people are going to end up spreading the cracked version he may as well release it with additional notes on the problems it has). Why else would he not release 0.95 instead?

I've already got OggPlayer and converted some mp3's to oggv format. Now that i've installed AudioMagic Player, I was wondering if those files should play when im using AudioMagic Player, because it keeps on telling me the play list is empty.
What am i doing wrong? Please help!!

AudioMagic creates a new folder where you have to store those Oggs, called "Music". Simply move your Oggs to that folder using a file manager(PC file manager, P800 file manager or Tracker).

That may very well also be the case, but it was not the impression I got.
