Just got my P800 back from CPW on Finchley Rd this morning after it needed flashing when i took too many drunken photos and it wouldnt start. Looking on the forum, flashing sorts it, and as i was on R1D i thought it would be a good idea anyways. Finally got it done and things were a bit odd after i left the shop (where i turned it on to see if it worked). Checking the versions of the phone, i get
PDA version: CXC162001 R2B03 030428 20:50
Phone software version: R1B CXC162002
Bluetooth software version: CXC12529 R5A
seems odd... not version R2D or F at all... however, if i go to create an sms, i can choose a delivery report...
I assumed that it was just a random error and that it was just reporting things wrong. However, on returning home and trying to synchronize i have run into a world of problems. I just cant get it to work. Initially i received a "The databse cannot be opened" error. So i downloaded PC suite 1.5.1 and tried again. Now it came up with a new phone dialogue, added the phone, then at the choose sync settings now dialogue (i chose now) it came up with the same error as before. Frustrating. After many reformats, i decided it was the phones fault and did a format of the internal drive. Attached it again and now i can just about connect to the phone (can bring up sync settings) but cannot sync. when i try to it says "not possible to perform sync with phone in backup or restore". odd. i'm not backing up or restoring! In fact, despite the P800 icon appearing in my taskbar, if i try to use explorer to go to it it says it is not connected.
If i try to actually restore from an old backup i get the error "there is a problem connecting to the phone". Any one had a similar experience? Am assuming now that some daft engineer at CPW has messed up my phone and it at least needs a reflash?
Oh yeah, the other thing which will be of interest is that the netowrk ID no longer shows up. I know a lot of people want to get rid of this. it is possible! All i have with flip closed is the date, despite being connected to the orange network (and the phone works). It always used to show orange at the top... interesting!
Thanks,
Oli
