It does say built-in touch pad and stylus, so it must be. Recognizes handwriting in latin and chinese characters. Tri-band, MMS, java, e-mail, xhtml browser etc. Not bad... 😊

I agree with you Raven 100%.I wouldn't call it a PDA,especially a PDA/Smartphone like the p800.This maybe too hard,but the device is featureless 😊

But isn't it interesting to see a Nokia phone with touch pad and stylus? What if they were just experimenting here and the next communicator will have a stylus too? 😮

Well,i really don't care much the next communicator has a touch screen,it would be a good feature though,i just hope it doesn't lose the QWERTY keyboard and the big screen,basicly,i wan't a 92XX with more horse power,Bluetooth,GRPS,you know,the good stuff 😊

Yeah, me too. The rumours has it that the new Communicator will have both a touch sensitive screen AND a QWERTY keyboard, with a new UI(Series 90) and OS(Symbian 7). And that it will have all the new features like MMS, GPRS, Bluetooth, more processor power and RAM.

Sure sounds sweet, but it won't be compatible with the old Communicator(software-wise), nor any other Symbian devices. Which is the only drawback IMO. I don't feel like buying another device operating on a brand new platform with no software available.. 😞

According to My-Symbian it will be presented this autumn.

Anyway, this is all rumours...

This might be a roumor,but its a great one 😊 I've heard before that the new UI(Series 90) will be used for the first time in the communicator successor,but the other stuff,about Symbian 7,touch screen,BT is all new to me.Sounds really sweet 😊

You have a point there about the software incompatibility,i'll just state one example for that case,the p800 and UIQ,in the begining the lack of software was a big problem but quality apps kept poping up by the day,so the new UI might not be that big of a problem.

Yeah I know, but using a P800 from the very beginning it's been a little frustrating waiting for some essential software to come, and it's still lacking some of the most important ones that everyone thought would be the first to appear, like a decent office app(spreadsheet editor etc.), camcorder(personally I couldn't care less, but alot of people seems to want this), predictive text input(T9 etc.), profiles, and the list goes on..

There's alot of good software available for UIQ, but there's also all kinds of useles cr@p, especially all the bloated overprices Visual Basic stuff(the ones that require Appforge Booster to run). And it seems as though too many developers focus in making games rather than serious apps(not that I mind a good game to kill some time).

So, if what I said about the new Communicator turns out to be true, I'm not sure I'll be getting one, even though I've been waiting for ages to see something like this, the incompatibilit issue is just to big of a deal IMO. One of the most important things to me in these kind of devices is the extras(3'rd party programs), the whole point of having an open OS. I'd rather wish for a renewed version of the old Communicator running the same platform, with a little lighter and thinner physique, supporting GPRS, BT, faster processor, more RAM etc...

Oh well, lets just wait and see what kind of exciting devices the future brings. 😊
