i am going crazy (UIQ-P800 Emulator + RAS + XP)

Hi All,

Did anybody achieve following working constalation:
connecting P800 Emulator through the RAS to Windows XP ???

I try almost everything - i do not know what else.

I can see usually "In Use" message on the emulator. I use Com-Port Monitor util too see what is happen and COM1 is really allready blocked, but it is blocked by the emulator itself (after it starts)!
I have removed problematic .esk files, but it did not help.
I set comms database as simple as possible.
I set the communication speed as slow as possible.
I have tried the "nokia + virtual serial port" solution - but I did not find that mRouterLite.exe

I connect my nokia communicator (the emulator and the real device as well) to my XP RAS without any problem.

At least write to me please, that it is possible to bring it to work at all !!!
I do not want to spend other long long hours in afford without winning possibility.

Thanx a lot

Hallo!

First of all, thanks a lot to everybody who tried to help me.

I put my questions to many places - I will write only one message, sorry I do not use your name...

I have found a way after hours and hours of working and I will try to summarize my problems - I hope it helps further on...

Use your RAS Server as you are used to it. The problems lie on UIQ Emulator - very probably not on you RAS server. Does not matter if you use Windows 2000 or Windows XP - I have tested it on both.

The easiest way - everything goes simply only with setupcomms utility.

The first big issue:
Go to b) Locations and delete 3/4 Mobile Location..
I really do not know why - but this is the reason of too early binding and occupying of selected com port (default it is COMM::0, that means COM1). Any application (I do know which) occupies this com port directly after the emulator starts up. After I deleted this location the problem disappeared.

Other trick I have got from Support mobility world (Ericsson) - after the advice I identified that the code that occupies the port is very probably here: C:\Symbian\UIQ_70\epoc32\release\winscw\udeb\Z\System\libs\ECUART.CSY.

I tried just only renaming this file - not to be loaded. It helped, the port has not been blocked anymore. But unfortunately it was not possible to dial up any connection any more without this file...

The second big issue:
Nevertheless the emulator was not able to dial up connection until I went to the setupcomms again and set
a) Modems - COMM::0, , MM, ECUART, 8, 1, None, 57600, Off, Off, Off, Off, Off, below no changes...
First after these five "Off" it starts to communicate...

Once more thanks a lot for every tip you gave me...

It's coming with Series60 SDK (not with a UIQ SDK). At least I found it only here (on my box):
C:\Symbian\6.1\Series60\Epoc32\Release\WINC\UREL\mRouterLite.exe

There might also be Windows programs sending stuff to COM1, you can identify those disturbing guys by using portmon (http://www.sysinternals.com/files/portmon.zip).

As an answer to >>>

Could you post or send your Cdbv3.dat? I'm having problems finding a
working setupcomms configuration... so far I never can make a internet
connection via NULL-Modem cable.
I guess, others will appreciate it a lots as well.

I hope it helps
