Do you love or hate your 9210 and why?

I'm looking at buying a 9210 used for $150 - is this a decent price?

Also, I've got a 3650 right now, I'm thinking I can use outlook as the 'master' and sync down to both phones. Sound reasonable?

Does this phone have a speaker phone? What's the IR distance like? I'm with TMobile - how well does this do MMS? Are there any gotchas that I should be wary of?

Any opinions one way or the other would be great. Thanks.

sync is no problem
yep it has a speaker phone and is very good for conference calls
9210 doesn't support MMS

gotcha's:
slower than 3650.
no stereo
no bluetooth
no gprs

+ you should buy a 9210i never a 9210 😃

IR is fine on the 9210 but the cable is definately superior. Your syncing plan sounds like it should work. The 9210 doesn't support MMS messaging as it didn't exist when the phone was made. The price also seems good.

I personally love my 9210 even though I have bashed it about a bit and bits are held on by gaffa tape. I've got a 9210 and a 3650 and the 9210 whoops the 3650's backside, the 9210 is only a little bit bigger, but has far more functionality.

Ok, it doesn't do mms, so just sms? Or does it do messaging?

I'm surprised by no GPRS - so what do you use instead? I'm guessing that it will connect to the internet, but how, and is it metered the same way?

I'm glad it does speaker phone - I have the HDD-1 headset for the 3650, do the two phones use the same handsfree profile and plug?

Does the cable come with the phone, or do I need to go buy one? Thanks, the info so far has been very helpful.

Thank you Godfather 😊 - That now, this HSCSD sounds much better and faster than GPRS, but is it available in the US? Anyone in the states using it with Tmobile? Thanks.

The 9210 is the best phone I had.... it was a good buy...... the speakerphone is great, works fine anywhere. Though no MMS or GPRS or bluetooth.... but it supports WAP and WWW.....
The best thing about it is the Contact Info...mine contains more than 500 (names, address, fax, email...etc).....im planning to get another phone with gprs and MMS, but im still gonna hold on to my phone.

HSCSD is indeed very fast 😊 Works great 😊 But don't know about the UK, check the TMobile website.

Ok, I hate to do this, but I got the phone and it turns out that it's a 9290.

Is this newer and better, or just different. Will the same software run on each, and if it is newer does it do MMS etc etc? Thanks.

The 9290 is the version designed for the US. The most significant difference is that the US operates on a different frequency from Europe and most of the rest of the world (no surprise there then!).

The 9290 is newer than 9210, not as recent as 9210i, both of which are Europe only.

The Nokia supplied software tends to be version specific, but everything supplied on the CD with the phone should be correct for your 9290. You will see threads in these forums about formatting the phone and selectively re-installing Nokia apps individually. Then you need to download the correct version of the individual files from the Nokia site.

3rd party apps whether purchased or freeware should work OK across all 92xx unless specified otherwise.

I had 9210, now 9210i - I don't regret it for a minute - it's one powerful bit of kit.

I'm glad to hear you got the phone. You won't regret it! To answer your question, I love mine (9210). I could say the reason is its versatility: can be used both business and pleasure 😃

Now all you need to do is register to AAS, you won't regret that either 😃

It's the best phone I have ever dream about it!!!
I now I have one, it's GREAT!!!!
The only thing that I really miss is GPRS and an earphone to hear MP3's.

GPRS won't happen, but have you seen these intructions for do-it-yourself headset? http://allaboutsymbian.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1821 😊 I use the regular Nokia headset for listening music, but it's one-ear solution.

Ack, I'd thought I was registered 😊 Ok, so now I'm reg'd. I've got the phone and it's doing it's backup thing right now. I sync'd the contacts out of Outlook, and now I'm ready to remove the ugly corvette logo that the guy I bought it from has on the lcd screen 😊 And add some ringtones and a dialup account, and find a telnet and vpn client. LOL, my afternoon is going to be full. Thanks for all the help.

Btw on the 9210 we use special encoded wav files, (encoded with multimediaconvertor from nokia)

these files are smaller than (normal) mp3's and play better because mp3 requires more cpu 😊

yup and if you search this forum, I believe i mentioned a link where you can get a program where you can convert your favorite cds to mp3 or wav files at optimum size or performance, then you can transfer that to your phone. It's one of the reasons why I can't leave the house without my phone. 😃

I just downloaded the MultiMediaconvertor from nokia... it works great!!! the problem is i have to upgrade to a higher memory 128MB... the 16MB will just handle a few songs. But this is still the best phone!!!

well I can cuss my 9210i over and over again, but then I think is there anything outthere that can replace it? I THINK NOT!

You can use the 9210 hands free to listen to MP3 or WAV. It will work jst like any other earphone and the added benefit of resuming play when ur receiving a call! The quality is not that great in comparison thou! what do u expect it not stereo!

Well i personally wud rather prefer using WAVgo than MP3go. Coz w WAV go u use WAV files (obviously!) wc you can also use as a personal ring tone! & i think that its more stable, coz when there is an incomming call it will pause and resume itself when done. Unlike the MP3 format i had more complications!

Dear all,

Hi. I love my Nokia communicator because its versatile (lots of stuff to do with it) and has expandable storage space (I can use it as a medium to transfer files from my office pc to my home pc;mmc upto 128mb or 256mb capacity) and overall style (when I bring it to meetings, my colleagues always gush over it 😉 ) despite its downsides (bulkiness, sometimes hangs, etc).

kudos and regards,

Gizeru

It hangs, its slow, complicated to use with mp3 files, cant run multiple programs, dosent have GPRS, no bluetooth....blah, blah, blah...

So what!!!

9210 is a great phone.(period) 8)

And thats all i can say about that! 😉 YEAH!!!

luv it! all in one concept.

and full qwerty keyboard. -- won't make me try on ipaqs and palm because of this!!

Fell in love with mine all over again this morning. I was sitting in a street caf having a cup and suddendly remembered something urgent. Just opened my communicator and sent an e-mail. One problem solved in a minute 😃 What a care-free feeling.
