I was in a local mobile phone shop earlier and was told by the guy behind the counter (a P800 user, but not a techie) that 2 customers had told him they could EDIT word and/or Excel documents on their P800. His boss chimed in (and quickly collapsed under cross-examination) saying that it involved "Outlook Express".

Now they guy didn't know what the f... he was on about, but his customers might have (I don't know them, so I can't tell).

Anyone know of a fiendishly clever way to do this? Outlook Express may be a red herring. The only thing I could come up with was if they were using VNC or something to edit files on their PC remotely via the P800.

There's no such editor available(yet). Might be some complicated work-arounds though, but using VNC/Remote Control etc. to do it...nah I don't think so, not a very fast and easy solution.. :-?

You can't, they can't I can't.

You can transfer them to txt files and then edit them with VNC, but then they're no longer excel or word docs

We'll just have to wait.

I couldn't think of a way to do it... the phone just CAN'T do it yet AFAIK.

Maybe we should all get together and start a mobile phone store where the staff actually know what they're talking about.

Yeah, that would be a first!

Even the people at official SE service points don't seem to know jack..
