Skins !

Hi Rob,

Thank you for the compliment, glad you like the skins I pieced together.
Sometimes they take a while to do, mainly I find the background the worst getting the correct size etc. but using bits and bobs from others I managed to make some nice ones I think.

Icon masks are quite easy once you've done a few. What I do is get my icon I want first, resize it to 1.1cmx1.1cm as this appears to be the maximum size then save it as say phone.gif. Then click save as again and add mask to the end, eg. phone_mask.gif. Once you have this file zoom in and it's easy to see the pixels which make up the picture, it's then just a case of replacing these with black so the picture no longer has colour and is surrounded by white. You notice the files are Gif's, I haven't tried JPG's as I don't think they'll work.
The hardest part is removing all the white from the icons so you just have the picture, some of mine still have the odd speck.
I have attached some icons for you to try, looking at these you will see how it's done. When you have some send them this way.

Hi Rob,

Of course you can use them mate, I don't mind use them as much as you want. Their not brilliant ones, some are speckily.
Most are mine and others I've borrowed from others.
All I'll ask is when you make any good ones post them here so we can have them to, or any skins to so we can all see/use different ones.

Ok, here is my 1st attempt at a skin, it's not complete but I'd like ur opinions. Thanx 2 coolice 4 some icons, also 2 SiTWuLf, who's skin I had installed on my phone, therefore resulting in some of his icons still being present. also thanx 2 Moyboy 4 the background. Hope u guys don't mind me using the stuff 😊

There r 2 files....1 is the skin and the other is some icons 4 u all 2 use. My eyes r now bleeding as I've spent my whole Sunday afternoon doing this :roll:

Anyway, hope u like, and please let me know ur opinions, good or bad 😊

Thank you for the thanks, but you don't have to it's nice to share and learn at the same time also. I'm glad they were of use to you Rob and others visiting the page.
I love your skin to, easily readable and usable to.
The problem I've found is sometimes the background can blend in to much with the icons and make it difficult, but you've got it just right.
That StiWulf skin is a great one to as you have found, cracking colours, futurstic looking and just right to modify to taste. So hence I must say a thank you to the creator also, bet he's a graphical designer maybe?
Did you make that background also? If so I've already got that one, but I've taken the Apple away for a future skin. The girlfriend loves Backham so may have to play around making one as a surprise, give's me more practice also. Anyone got one made football orientated maybe?
I'm going to download your skin & icons now and have a play, like you though it gets a bit tiring late at night.
