Big Problems With Orange / P800

Last week, Orange replaced my P800 (that I've had since Feb) as it kept switching off randomly. The replacement arrived, and since then, I have a poor signal, meaning I can't make calls in places I've made calls during the last 5 years. At least twice a day i get the 10 second restart error (which is a pain), my contacts gave me not enough memory errors forcing a format of the internal drive, and this morning it crashed writing a text message.

I called Orange and complained, I managed to get through to the most snottyest bloke who ran the diognistic test, then proceeded to tell me the symptoms are typical of a P800. I expressed my concernhe was expecting me to use a phone I considered to be of poor quality, but he wasn't interested, just telling me he'll pass the details onto a technicial bloke and they'll perhaps get back to me over the weekend.

I insisted he looked again at all the problems I'm having and asked to speak to his supervisor, he refused to put me through and asked me 'Do you always ask for a supervisor if you can't get your own way'

Anyone heard such a rediculous story???
Up until today I've never had a bad word spoken about Orange, I have 4 phones on Orange in my commpany, but if this is how their customer services are I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone.

Tom

Orange do seem to have a policy of not putting anybody through to Supervisors any more. Dunno why. Maybe they're too chicken sh1t to take the calls!

It sounds like a phone fault, if your previous P800 worked where your new one doesn't. How about getting insurance and accidentally losing the phone?

Three times I have asked to be put through to a supervisor and three times they have refused. On one of these occasions the operator let slip that the supervisor was actually listening and still wouldn't speak to me - what a coward.

Every other company to which I have complained has eventually put me through to someone more senior than the spod on first level support, but Orange have consistently refused to address problems adequately.

I am not impressed and I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone (or at least not anyone I liked).

Hell, I switched to orange from vodafone cos they were terrible!....my mate is still having problems with his gprs and mms...I had probs but had them ironed out in seconds with orange.

I tried to replicate my new learning curve (ie smtp.orange.net) or whatever it is and reapply it to vodafone and his tesconet account....but no it wasn't to be.

anyway i came up with a solution to the non compatable voda to orange mms prob:

a string to sheffield from scarborough where i am....get my mate to the top of one of those seven hills and then he can slide a piccy down the string....a bit of wind blowing up from the south and away we go.....and quicker than the electronic version!!! 😊 😞 😉

I too have switched from vodafone to orange, only because they offer much better deals, tarrifs etc and that you get your bill from orange themself instead of an airtime provider like singlepoint.
It is the repair and upgrade company, celestica that i have had troubles with. My p800's touch screen started behaving wierd and the jog dial wouldnt click backwards so i sent it off to celestica to be repaired. I also asked for the firmware to be updated to r2d. they quoted me 3 days.
16 days later my phone was returned without the jog dial repaired and no upgrade done.
I rang a superviser, Liz Fisher and she promised a currier to my door the next morning. It didnt arrive and i have given up trying to get it fixed. This was all 3 weeks ago and the ignorant witch at celestica wont return any of my calls or emails.....
Tried to get a flash upgrade in carphone warehouse but apparently orange havent authorised it yet. spoke to a girl at orange and she didnt have a clue.

I switched to Orange from T mobile and have found them to have brilliant customer service so far, my first P800 died and i got a replacement the same day by courier. I had had trouble with MMS and GPRS at first too, and they were sorted quickly, even tho they didnt know what it was, it was the first they had heard of it, about 2 days after release. It did take them a couple of days, but they rang me to tell me what it was and that it was sorted, rather than me chasing it up.
When i was on T mobile I had a T68 and the side slider broke after 3 months, they would not fix it. Spent weeks ringing them and just gave up.

It is interesting how different our various experiences have been, I have been impressed with my fairly minimal dealings with Vodafone so far.

My Orange experience didn't get off to a good start. They had to send me three SMS updates to set up GPRS and even then it didn't work.

When I rang to report that I was having problems, they weren't sure what was wrong so they said they would phone back. In the meantime I figured out what the problem was myself.

They were true to their word, they did phone back - a week later.

😮

I was thinking of joining the Orange revolution, but when the sales guy said they lock all their phones to their network, I promptly marched out the front door, back to the Vodafone shop.

So far the Vodafone experience has been good. My first P800's handsfree was giving hassles, so I walked into the nearest Vodafone shop with the old one and out with my second P800. It's that easy.

Last, but not least, if you register online with Vodafone(which I did!), you can login and change your price plan on the fly, view your last calls that you've made, but hasn't been billed yet, get a history of all your phone bills and add more services to your price plan.

O dear, I sound like a sales rep for Vodafone, but I'm not!! It's just been a very enjoyable experience so far and will hopefully continue for the forseeable future....

Now I'm working on a way to get Vodafone to stop sponsoring Man Utd and start sponsoring Arsenal.... 😃
