Email clients ? A dead horse?

I have been surprised by the 9290 not doing smtp authentication 😮 But thought, ah well, I'll just buy or find a different client. The only thing I've found so far is ActiveMail, and I can't tell if that will let me set up an account that uses authentication or not? So, is there a clean solution to this yet? I didn't see anything searching the forums, but am hoping that I missed the message that told about the super new email client 😊 Thanks.

I don't think we have a smtp auth functions.
I think it's best for you to just choose another dialup isp.
(in belgium all of them are free ... just connection costs .. so I can switch around)

Any of these should work:

Providing your isp doesn't block acces to other smtp servers than their own ..

The problem I run into using open smtp servers is that a lot of mail admins have them blocked via spam list etc, so only about half my mail ends up getting delivered. Unfortunately ISP's aren't free here in the US. I think my cheapest route will be to pay for a static IP address, and then have that added to the allow list on the smtp server. Blech 😊

Can someone talk to me about the active e-mail product. It seems like it can solve this problem although not in the way I would most like to solve it.

I also have a problem accessing SMTP servers when I travel. It seems like anyone writing and marketing an e-mail client at this point in history would provide options for authenticating yourself on an SMTP server, authenticated SMTP is an ISP's first line of defense against spam.

However, I don't send many e-mails when I travel and they tend to be short. The outgoing sms e-mail which goes through a gateway to become e-mail might be perfect for me instead of authenticated SMTP. Does anyone know if major US wireless operators like ATT or T-Mobile provide these sms to e-mail gateways? Has anyone worked with this system? Do you have first person experiences to share with those of us who haven't spent out money yet?
