I have the Hong Kong version of P800 which supports Chinese characters.
When I try to do the text input setup I only see "Chinese Handwriting". Although this also supports input of standard characters I would prefer the standard "CICs JotPro" as input method.
Does anyone know how to install this and where to get the files from??
Thx
Here is what you should do...
1. Go to www.sonyericsson.com
2. Click on Global Support Area
3. Fill in P800
4. Click on "Language tools"
5. Now choose the language you want (and that is the same as your firmware)
Although, I assume you have the P802, I'm not sure if this will work on the P802 as well. When I fill in P802 in step 3, language tools are not listed. :-? You should try...
No I have the P800, not the P802. The P802 is for China (Mainland).
However I thought that the language packages are only for display of menu's (and my P800 can be set standard to English or traditional (HK) Chinese.
But my problem is that I would like to have the standard text (handwriting) input method. So I am not sure whether that is also part of a language package.
Thx
While I don't know how to change the recognition engine, you can change to english handwriting recognition by clicking on the arrows (looks like "<<<"😉 on the extreme right and then clicking on the chinese words "Chinese>English".
It looks like we should be able to install a different character input plugin, but I can't figure out how to do it!
What you need is a standard P800 (English) and perform a file compare. This is the reverse the the process people on www.epocn.com did to transplant Chinese (Trad and Simp) onto standard P800 (english)
I have asked around, but nobody is willing to part with their P800 for a few days for this experimentation.

Too bad, I could use the same help getting english handwriting on a HK P800.
