Hi,

That's NOT for your P800. The Mpegable player is for encoding and playing MP4 video clips on your PC, but I would suggest you give the PV Author a go if you wan't to make your own MP4 videos.

GPRS huh? 😮 Ouch, that's going to be expensive... The reason you can't download a 20MB file through GPRS is simply because the P800 doesn't have that much internal memory. You see, when you download a file that way, the file first has to go through your internal memory before you can save it to the mem stick.

The best way to transfer that big a file is to get one of those memory stick reader/writers for your PC. That's the fastest and easiest way to transfer big files straight to your mem stick duo. The other way is to use the PC Suite that came on one of the cd's when you purchased your P800. Then all you have to do is simply drag-and-drop the file straight to your mem stick. But in this case you will experience a far slower speed no matter what form of connection you're using(BT, IR, USB).

Cheers

oh ok now i understand....pardon all d ignorance....

this is kind off topic but raven cud u pls guide me to some sites for streaming i.e. video bsically n audio if possible.

thanx a lot.
n sorry for so many ques.

Hi futuredoc,

Yes, you can just download a clip to your PC, then put your ms duo in the adoptor that came with the duo, and put that in the reader/writer and transfer the clip from your PC to the reader/writer. Presuming of course that you have a USB memory stick reader/writer for your PC. If not, then you have to use PC Suite to transfer the clip directly to your mem stick.

I used PV Author to encode the clips, and yes I think they are watchable on a P800. 😊 I also have a full episode of Buffy on one of my ms duos right now which also is quite "watchable" I think, but of course those action scenes are kind of blurry. For a clip like Friends there isn't much movement, therefore it's better suited to be watched on devices like the P800 which can't handle more than about 12.5fps. Well, actually it isn't the P800 that can't handle more, it's the cr@ppy built-in video player. Really hoping for a better video/media player soon! Something like a DivX player would be nice, hell even the cr@ppy SPV has one, and the SPV has got alot slower processor than the P800..

What do you mean by "streaming sites"? AFAIK there's only the live cams from the built-in bookmark in the P800 browser available.. You mean like live streaming news etc. through GPRS, right? Unless you have a really good GPRS plan that's going to be really expensive.. Only thing I can think of is that the Vics Player can be used to watch some sample news clips and stuff.. Not much content available there either though, and the encoder isn't even available(or will it ever be  ) yet, so there isn't many videos available for it yet and you can't make your own because it uses a proprietary format.

thanx a mill buddy....apprciate ur help....

my gprs is free....no download limit or charges....jus monthly rental of Rs 600 daz $10 for u guys....pretty neat huh....

thanx again
cheers

p.s. hoping for much better video in future firmware....
