Instead of using mp3's, why don't you convert them to .3gp using software like PvAuthor, which is free for 60 days?They take up around 350 kb, if you use a 3mb file which means you can have around 10 times as many songs. I currently have 29 files, which isn't bad.

maybe because although mp3's sound bad, .3gp sound a lot worst....
