Hi, I have a little question:
I'm sure some of you have tried the siemens sx1 and the samsung d700 at CeBit or elsewhere. How are the ergonmics of both? Which one is more convenient to use? (In comparison maybe?)
And most important, how are the 5-way d-pads?
-Is the Samsung's not too "flat" (and so not easy too "feel" the buttons, or too near to the other buttons, like Red- or C-buttons)?
-Is the Siemens's better than the d-pad from the sony-ericsson T300 (sometimes if you want to move in one direction, unintentionally you press "down" the joystick [so you confirm the selection]).
-A comparison of both?
I would be very glad if someone is able to provide me this informations!
Many thanxx in advance!
cheers, Dr.Evil 😉
Thats a trick one.
The SX1 could be used single handed with the thumb if you don't mind covering part of the screen at times when using the top right or left button depending upon which hand your using.
The SX1 is designed for two handed use when using the side buttons which in theory should be a lot quicker for text entry. However it feels very strange holding it this way to me although is probably just a case of getting used to it.
The SX1 was larger than I was expecting and felt a bit plasticy but apart from that was a nice device.
The D700 with its metalic casing felt very sturdy. It nice and compact when closed and of course the screen is protected. I liked the flip action and the swiveling screen although im not sure why youd want to twist it around. (Looking round corners?). The buttons were a little flat but I don't think thats much of a problem apart from the direction pad which was much better on the SX1. The only issue for me is wheather it has bluetooth or not as I can't find a definitive answer.
Bottom line. Horses for courses I think. The SX1 is more fun the D700 is more of a business phone. They both have their plus points.
Thank you very much for your opinion, langdona!
Do you people all think the sx1's d-pad is much better?
