I have been happily playing Doom for the last couple of weeks, but I have now finished the full version.
I have tried to get third party WAD files to work with the P800 eDoom port but I cannot. If I install them into the same directory as the other WAD files, they are not recognised. If I try renaming them (to either doom.wad or doom1.wad) I get the error message complaining that they are not main wad files, which isn't true.
To be specific, one of the files I tried was dethwish.wad that I downloaded from http://www.doomwadstation.suhost.com/main.html.
First of all, has anyone on the forum actually achieved this? Just knowing for sure that it's possible would give me an added impetus in trying to figure it out. Secondly, what I would really like is someone to explain exactly what they did and which WAD file[s] you used.
Yeah, me too.. Hmm, same guy from My-Symbian? Same avatar..
Cheers
Yes that's me and that's my favourite racing car. I forgot to choose a handle when I joined allaboutsymbian rather than my name.
BTW I have sent a PM to contaygious. If he really did get it to work, I shall let you know how.
I have achieved something of a result. The Doom 2 wad file works with eDoom!
You need version 1.9 but as far as I can tell from three minutes of playing, it works perfectly.
This almost certainly means that tnt.wad and plutonia.wad would work as well without any changes to the application (phew).
I am looking forward to many hours more Doom II (it even starts up with the right splash screen, it's superb).
PLease post how exactly you get them to work. IE, take them out of your C:\Doom2 folder from your PC and transfer them over IRA to the MMC, and then where you put them!!!
I can't find any .wad files on my phones MMC, but I can clearly find the Doom APP folder.
Please help, I would love to play different levels!!!
When you first run eDoom it creates a directory called Media files\document\DOOM on the memory stick and the phone memory. The easiest way to access these directories is to ensure you have the PC Suite installed and put the phone in the cradle. You can then copy files across using Windows Explorer. If you are sensible enough not to be using Windows, you will have to use a different technique to transfer the files over.
Copy doom2.wad from the directory you installed it on your PC into the directory on your memory stick (it's too big to fit on the phone memory) and make sure that doom3.wad is available (I've always had both wad files in the same directory on the memory stick, but I haven't tested to see whether it is possible to have doom3.wad on the phone and doom2.wad on the memory stick).
When you start eDoom it will now ignore doom.wad and will use doom2.wad instead.
That's all there is to it.
If that's not sufficiently clear, let me know.
what device are you talking about?
I'm a little confused.
A doom emulator should always be able to play doom.wad and doom2.wad because doom2 didn't have any code changes.
To use 3th party wad files ... my understanding of them is that you'll always need the original + the 3th party one.
Anyway p800 owners who love Doom .... Heretic is on it's way 😃
Anyone know how to add new .wads into the 3650 version of Doom?
It doesnt' add a e:\documents\doom folder, so where do I install the new .wad files?
And all the wad files in my doomapp folder are called .xwad or .ewad (cant remember right now...) How do I get a normal .wad file to play?
Thanks!
I've been having sort of the same trouble. I downloaded Doom95 (it's all I could find) and installed it. I put the PSX Ultimate doom in, and try to play the wad files for some of the other levels in Doom 1 that the sharware one don't have, but it just leads me to the first level or the Miltary Base one.
''If you have the PSX doom, why don't you just play it on your console?'' Because I can't find it! Whaaaa :'( lol
Help?
