Anyone here using NeuVoiceDialler software on a 9210? If so, I'd value your comments regarding how effective you find this in a real world scenario.
I'm thinking about rigging up a cheaper than Nokia 'car kit' so to speak, using a Garmin StreetPilot beanbag and a couple of velcro pads to hold the 9210 open on the dash top, plugged into the cig lighter obviously, and have NeuVoiceDialler give me voice control for accepting and making calls via the speakerphone.
Does this sound like a goer, or a just plain daft idea? 😊
I'm pretty impressed, to say the least, with the speakerphone clarity at both ends of a call, and would like to make use of this in the car.
Sounds like a good idea to me. I haven't used NeuVoiceDialler myself, but I'm told it can be fairly slow. Still I'm sure someone who has experience of it (Hyper IIRC) will tell you more about this.
I don't know whether your aware of it or not, but there is an official car kit (but I assume your trying to avoid the expense - its very pricey).
Let us know how you get on.

It isn't so much a case of avoiding the cost of the Nok car kit, more a case of not wanting to use one if there is a geekier alternative available. 😃
Seriously though, the speakerphone is of such good quality that I'd like to exploit it. Plus the voice driven speakerphone solution makes it easy for me to swap the thing between cars.
And the official Nokia car kit only allows the phone to be used in the closed position. This does not allow any nice software to be used in the car, e.g. navigation aids.
Keep us posted on any progress. I'm interested in such a system connected to my handhelp gps.
Any good holders available that allows the N9210 to be used in the open position?

Try www.exportech.co.uk/nokia9210gps.htm/932QER-LB9
These guys have developed a plug-in GPS unit for the 9210 and if you scroll to the very bottom of the page, after the tech specs etc, they also offer a suction mount holder for the 9210 which one assumes lets you keep the device open.
Might be worth dropping them an email about it anyway.
Personally I like the beanbag idea at the moment, but then I have the advantage of a decent amount of flat dashboard top space to sit it - next to the StreetPilot GPS unit 😃

This just in from talking to the guys at Exportech:
"The mount for the 9210 is adjustable so that the flexible neck can
hold the unit in any position. Of course, the manufacturer has also
added Velcro "dots" to cover himself, but mine holds fine, even when open
all the time, and remember it has a lip all around, which sort of boxes
it in, in fact when you put the unit in the cradle you can almost hear
the air hissing past the gap between the two! The actual suction mount
which goes on the windscreen is incredibly powerful - personally I use 2
of these to fit plate glass windows to offices and shop fronts in my
spare time at the weekend"
Methinks I shall be buying one and will report back as to how good it is...
Hmmm.. That does sound good.
Exportech are also a very reliable company in my experience and as you have demonstrated they are always friendly and happy to help with queries. If only all online vedors were like this ... sigh...
BTW there's a topic from some time ago discussing Voice control and some comments about NeuVoice.
