My cousin was downloading space impact then the phone hanged. She removed/put the battery again but the phone responded PHONE START-UP FAILED. CONTACT THE RETAILER. What should be done? Could this be repaired? Thanks

yes it can i had same prob a few months ago just take to NSC(nokia service centre) and they will do it for u

Do they charge a stiff price for repair? My cousin lost the receipt.

And how did this happen? Her phone's firmware is 4.39, mine is 3.16 but never had d same problem though i download much.

That means your phone is pretty messed up! Replace it as soon as possible.

I have just got mine back today after a similar thing happened (actually, I was trying to open a document with a compressed app it was associated to).

So i took it down to my NSC and they couldn't reflash it there, so it went to the Nokia Repair Centre, where they just reformatted it.

It was under guarantee (no charge) and took a week (in Spain)

You may be lucky and the NSC may just be able to reflash it, but probably not. Mine is not the first case...

try this:

-put it off.(with the powerbutton!Do not remove the batterie again!)

-be shure,the batteriem is full.

-try 2 put it on:

-if u see the popup again, only ignore it:

-press ok,and put it off.(Powerbutton)

-wait 2-3 Minutes, and try the boot again.

If this will not help, try to make the Hardreset after u press away the error-popup.

ATTENTION:

U will loose all your data.
(this need some time:between 2 and 5 Minutes will be normal)

DO NOT remove the batterie,
or try too break down the formatting, once u start it!
THIS will DAMAGE the firmware😮nly NSC can fix this new!

Good luck

I had the same problem. I took the battery out, replaced it and plugged the charger in then switched the phone on and it worked fine.

i had the same problem just weeks ago. no solution except the nsc. u wont hav to pay for any repairs or anything. it will be all under warranty as long as u havent had the fone longer than 12 months.

I recieved same message but when I restarted nothing happened just thing normmaly continued
but I immediately deleted app that I suspected and kazaam no problem anymore 😊

same damn problem.
i had 3.16 previously & i got my phone upgraded to 4.39. & now ive got the startup failure problem. hve to give it to them again...
this means that 4.39 is not to stable with 3rd party applications.
i should tell them to load 3.16 & not 4.39.
this is pathetic.....

im really digusted.

also i remember one thing...
in my 9210 when i would boot the phone. i could press CTRL+SHIFT+I or F to either format the phone or the INI files.
is there a way of doing this with the 7650?

this is also symbain based is'nt it? so there must be a way to doing that?

anyone?

Brought my cousin's unit to NSC, we got it back the same day. It was upgraded to 4.46 but i don't know if it's stable with 3rd party applications. Mine is still 3.16 and i had the memory down to 300 kb once but it never had this problem. Feedbacks on version 4.46 anyone?

just got my 4.6 version upgraded now. it looks preety smooth.
theres one good thing i noticed in there, it point out the name of the tower/base u are located at...near the top right corner of the background...
i'll go thru ity & post some pics 2moro...
until then.

definately smoother.... & nice shaded bars...

Looks like 4.39 is at the root of all this.

Anybody had this with other versions?

If it's a 4.39 issue, plan your upgrade now! (I had to take mine in the day it crashed, just when I needed it most - and a week after a backup)
