Contacts on the MMC

Hi!
If I have my Contacts only on the MMC, I can not see who are calling to me, I can see only the number. Why?
Then I have to do one copy of my Contacts List on 9210 to can see who are calling. Id like to have only one Contacs list on my MMC, not on the 9210.
Any idea?
Thank you!

I gues you use a database located on your MMC ?!?
If so you database should be opened in your contacts and you should set your 'memory in use' in'names=>options' (on the phone side) to that same database.

I think that will do the trick.

Firstly, Im sorry but my english is not very good! hehehe...
Yes, yes, but it doesnt work. I set "memory in use" to MMC Contacts, but if I have not the Contacts list on the 9210 memory but I have only it on the MMC database, then I can not see who are calling, I can see only the tel number..
I needed to do one copy of my Contacts list from MMC to the 9210 memory, and then I can see who are calling. But if I have not one copy of the Contacts on the 9210 memory then I can not see who are calling..
I dont know why..
Please could you try it? Create a new database on the MMC and then MOVE (not copy) your Contacts there, then you will see that when somebody are calling to you, youll see only the tel number.
Well, thank you and regards!

All you need to do is to make sure that you only have ONE Contact per number.

e.g. if you have say John Doe with telephone number 123-456-789 and
John Doe(2) with the telephone number 123-456-789 , then the communicator gets confused as it does not know whether to display John Doe or John Doe(2) on your display and hence only shows your number.

As far as I know, it makes no difference whether the duplicate occurs on Sim Card Memory, Phone Memory or MMC Memory. All it takes is more than ONE occurance of the same number and you get this problem.

The only solution is to make sure you do not have the same number stored in any of the three memory locations.

No, no... I know that if I have the same number associated to some contacts, I will can only see the telephone number.
What I try to say is
- I have one Contact List on the MMC ONLY, not on the 9210 memory.
- The 9210 Contacts memory is empty.
- Then, when somebody calls to me, I see only the number.
- If I want to see who are calling, I must do one copy of my Contacts List on the MMC to the 9210 memory.
- Then I have two Contacts List one of them on the MMC, and the another one on the 9210 memory.
- And then I CAN see who are calling...
- But if I delete the Contacts List of the 9210 memory, and keep only the Contacts List of the MMC, then I can not see who are calling, see only the number.

What I would like is to have ONLY ONE Contacts List on my MMC, but I can not because if I have the 9210 Contacts memory empty then I see only the number. I dont know why..

Well, thank you very much in any case.

Regards!

Does this happen with all the numbers on your contact list ? Have you made absolutely sure that there are NO duplicates in your contact list ?

I have the same problem when I inadvertantly enter the same number twice for a particular person or company.

e.g. Mr. Tim Harris of Nokia might share the same Office number as Mr. Peter Dason if they both work in the same company and when you enter the same number twice under different names, your problem arises.

Yes, yes.. Im sure about you say. I have not duplicates of numbers. I knew that problem.
My contacts list is ok, without duplicated numbers. But I dont know why if my contacts list is only on the MMC I can not see who are calling..
Could you try it? If you move (not copy) your contacts list from 9210 memory to your MMC, youll see it.

Thank you and regards!

I try it and same thing.. name doesn't show up. Seems like bug, even if i have 3.62..User posted image
Maeby nokia doesn't know that yet.. have to call them from that.

Thank you!

I thinked that it was a problem of my device! hehehe!
Well, well see if Nokia fix it.

Regards!

I constantly move my contact list around as I have 4 mmc cards which I use to do backups and I always update it to MS Outlook.

Typically, I would move all my contact details to the Communicator memory and change MMC cards then copy the list back to a New MMC card.

Absolutely no problem at all. Perhaps it is because I am using the 3.18 version of the software as I couldnt be bothered to update it untill there is a "really" stable version of the Nokia Software version for the 9210.

I hope NOKIA reads this and stop monkeying around and correct all the bugs in their firmware !!!

I have the same problem (v3.54). This has prevented the personal ringing tone from working. Nokia should fix this.
