MS Duo 128 - Problems

11 replies · 2,419 views · Started 03 June 2003

Hey People,

I received my MS Duo 128 today and ripped the box open and rammed it into my P800. Yay I thought, all this extra memory, joy to the world.

But alas it was not to be, the MS Duo 128 can not be opened through PC Suite. I have formatted it through the phone and made sure the lock key was in the right place. I have even replicated the files present on the MS Duo 16 on the MS Duo 128, thinking this may help. Still PC Suite wont open the card. I can access the MS Duo 128 through File Manager on the phone, but am unable to through the PC Suite, everytime I try, it opens the Phone Memory instead.

I have searched through the forums but have not come across an answer to this problem.

Help, please, anyone??? 😞 😞

Hi,

Hmm, strange... I have both a 64 and a 128MB DUO, but have no such problems. Try to format the stick again, and rename it. Did you have this problem with your 16MB stick as well?

If all else fails, I guess one solution would be to use the PC File Manager from Epocware.

Thanks Raven,

I formatted the stick and called it MS Duo 128. I never had this problem with the MS Duo 16... really driving me nuts. Gonna try formatting again.

Hope I dont have to get the PC Manager, I was so happy this morning too!

Ok how weird is this???

Without formatting again, I just decided to install Unreal MP3 Player onto MS Duo 128, just to see if I could.

Well it installed fine, and even better I have access to the MS Duo 128 from my PC now and can transfer files over..

HOW WEIRD IS THAT???

Just hope everything is ok, cause its party time NOW!

May it be that you had no file on your MS Duo 128 and so that PC Suite didn't show it to you ?

ARGHHHHH

Now the MS DUO 128 says its corrupted and wont let me put files onto it!!! I am going to destroy it in a second!

Gonna format now

Ok formatted the MS Duo 128 and this time after the format a file was created on the card 'Media'. In this file were the standard media folders. I was a bit cautious, installed and uninstalled programs and transferred media files - vids and mp3's.

Everything is working fine now. Cool - time to have some fun.

I guess it just needed to formatted twice. Strange though, anyone else come up with this problem? Not that its a problem anymore.

I have MS Duo 128 and am starting to fill it up!

That's funny - I got a similar sort of thing. I got my 128 card this morning.

When I browsed the phone via my PC it initially showed the card but when I clicked on it it disappeared.

I seem to have got it back the same way as you - I installed Unreal player on it - I think I also used file manager to copy a file over onto it. Once that file had been copied suddenly I could see it from explorer

On a related issue, is there a quicker way to get MP3's onto the phone - copying over using windows, via USB2 port it seems to take longer than the songs themselves. It's not the end of the world but it does make you reluctant to copy an album on when it's going to take 40 minutes plus.

Hey mslade,

Yeah I freaked out when that happened to me, but its all good now. Anyway in regards to your query for faster transfer, the best method is through purchasing a card-reader. I dont have one myself but from what I have read others agree that the speed is the best.

They retail from around $75 Aus to $150 Aus. I will end up buying soon I think.

I believe the file structure isn't created on the MS until at least one file is copied. The PC Sync software is kind of hard coded to only allow you to copy certain file types in certain folders and if the folders aren't there I think it just wigs out.
