Well for those hu wud like to knw y ive bin M.I.A. (Misssing In Action) is coz ive bin bc w my work and the fact that i jst got out from confinement not so recently, due to another motorcycle accident! Which btw almost crushed my Communicator agn! its a good thing that ive had lots of practice to fall! 8) Saving my precious communicator from the crash. I still vaguely recall that i was more concerned w my phone than all d gushing blood on m! hehe! jst a thought there!
Always better me than the phone!
But given another circumstance, what if ur being mugged by a couple of thugs who had their eye on ur communicator. Wud u jst give up wo a fight? or will u brawl w them?
Its kinda funny coz i wud be expecting different insights coz wer all from other sides of the planet. & w all the diff cultures w have its only natural to expect a lot of differences. For instance, the crime rate hir is relatively high! not to mention that there is even a gang hu only focuses on nabbing Phones!
The main theme here is... "Is a Communicator worth dyng for?"
Mayb dying is way too mch, bt i guess u fellas know wat i mean!
wouldnt die for it but would certainly put up a fight if someone tried to nick it off me, however, when im out I dont flash my communicator around so hopefully i wouldnt be targeted by any thugs/gangs of phone theives. Also, I always keep my old 9110i in the bottom of my ruksak thing (incase of any emergencies where my main fone battery died or somthing) when im out so IF anything DID happen to my 9210i I could run after em, while on the phone to the police with my 9110i telling em where I was heading, lol 😉 😃

i was just thinking not many people know about the Communicator ( the thives i mean) so i dont think it is much of a target.
Also the main reason for them to take the phone is to sell it off now i dont think it is a phone some kid off the street would be proud in carrying. Even to this day every person that sees the phone only says one thing, thats a BRICK.
so it doesn't have return value.
thats what i think. people can differ if they want.
I'll still be safe guarding my fone just incase 😃 😃
I once almost got mugged on the train once for my Nokia 9210. I was sat there happly typing an letter when I noticed a number of rouges taking an keen interest in my phone and other people around me so that they could ask me politely for my phone. As luck my have it it was my stop next . I`m not sure if I would have put up a fight or not. I think people that see the phone open up tend to see that it is not just a brick and actually has a high cost.
but even if they did nick it what are they gonna do with it then?? Sure you can sell it on e-bay or somthing but chances are youve got the thing setup for the automatic lock to engage after 15 mins (so you cant really sell it) and also if someone puts a new sim card in. So ur stuffed then as you cant unlock the phone. Secondly, by the time they have figured out the code (im guessing you could via a Nokia Service Centre (if they are clever enough to think of that)) you would have probably blocked the IMEI number anyway. So basically, in the end, whats the point of nicking it anyway?? Baiscally you ARE stuck with a brick then. Just my thoughts on the subject obviously....

Well i do beg to differ! But then again i could be wrong. Like i said there is a very big difference between our cultures. One thing never changes thou, a crime is a crime! here in our country, no matter wat u r holding as long as it seems to have any value... and mind you that ppl here are pretty damn smart on picking their prospects! A communicator at hand would be enough to feed the whole family for at least a couple of weeks! but the irony here is, its sd ppl who r less priviledged r th ones being victimised by sch a horrid crime! for instance ppl who walk wo a care their 3310 at hand or even while inside a PUJ (Public Utility Jeeps) while tinkering w their phones were jst unaware of the danger thata awaits them. Sad to know that its already too late for them to save their precious phone!

Well, i should say that ur pretty fortunate! Very lucky indeed! it aint matter no more whata you could have done, Jst glad to know that your out of harms way. But it aint no mistake to take extra precautions next time.

Mind you my dear friend, if there is one think we Filipinos can be very proud of is their ingenuity and almost perfect replication. ike they always say, when there is aa will there is always a way! Driven by these trying times and the need to survive these unsung heroes who unfortunately use their skill for their own personal benifit and sadly for illegal purposes are sure hell determined to get what they want and they always get the job done! Phone locking via IMEI or network or by what ever means will only b temporary and that a guarantee! thats why precaution is always the best method!
Brick or none brick, a tech toy like that is a hot item!
What the @#%^*&%$^ !
I for got to LOG IN! Silly me! Realy getting rusty!
Sorry about that!
To avoid any confusion, i was th lowly unregistered guest above! I gues i got pretty excited speaking my mind! :x
I remember this one time when my friend of mine was jst sitting along the stretch of the bldg lobby where he works at. When he was tinkering with his phone (namely a 7110 wc was jst fresh out of the stores and from the box that time) a guy w an unlikely happy grin kips on looking at him as if he recognizes my friend. Then out of the blue this strage fella sprung out of his position & snatched his 7110! My poor friend didnt know wat jst hit him... still sitting in his current position paused for a wyl and thought... wait do i know that guy??? He was assuming that he does and that he not recognizing him made him think it was jst a practical joke and that his phone will be returned shortly! To his dismay, he said Wait i never seen that guy my whole life! jst then he realised he has jst been robbed! I said, look at the bright side, at least ur unharmed and obnoxiously happy foor some moments there! 😃
i completely agree with you here in the philippines its different. My heart bleed for your friend and yes better the phone than getting hurt. i was pickpocketed once and lost my 6210. went thru a couple of models till i settled for my 9210. Eversince that time "better safe than sorry"
Well Joe, Welcome to the club! Im sure that u were not at all dissapointed choosing the 92! A word of advise, better take better care of your phone next tym! 😉
Take good care of your communicator and the results are rewarding coz its gona take gud care of u in return! 😉
Boy do i have another Phone story for u!
If u think thats dumb! wait til u hear this one! Its even more hilarious!
This is a personal favorite!
Me and my friend (Who at its 3rd wik jst purchased a new 9110i) was out one tym along the stretchs of DIMASALANG (the name of a street in our country famous for its wide variety of flowers avail on sale 24/7!) about 3 years ago, its about 11:00pm, one hour to go before its Valenttines day!
We both got ourselves 2 bouquet of an assortment of Well arranged Red & White Longstem Roses 2doz@! (You cud imagine the size of it! 😉 ) Anyway, since its that late and transpo via Public Utility Vehicles are hard to come by, we used my BMX bike as our means of transpo. Since my home was not that distant from the area, we decided to kip the roses there till needed for his big date w the Girl he was courting!
On our way back, i was pedaling along the main road with him at the back holding both of the bouquet w one hand and a tight grip on my shoulder w the other! It was rily dark & for sum reaon we noticed that for a whole block the street lights were out! Little did we know that there was a widely open MANHOLE right at the middle of the road. Unable to respond w a very quick manuever all i was able to do was say... SHITTTTTTTTT!!!
Everything happend so fast but im pretty sure that my friend was catapulted away from d back way further pass me about 2meters or so. I, w my extensive experience for sch accidents, i learned how 2 crash w the least amount of injury. I even got to see my friends acrobatic skils in action, where he therew d 2 bouqets away to the sidewalk to prevent it from being crushed by his body! To get a more vivid pic Jst imagine what happens wne the front wheel of a bike gets instantaneously stucked up on a big hole from an appx spped 25kmh - instant human catapult! 😃
This is where it gets even better. Surprisingly right after the crash kipping in mind that he still has his 9110i in his right front pocket he got up and pulled it out and checked for damages and said, "My phone!" Little did he knew that his chin was a mess! The Chin Bone is very visible and there is abt a centimeter of flesh wiggling abt below it! Blood was all over his shirt. He asked me if hes ok. I said "aw.. it nothing but a scratch!" when we got to my place he saw how bad the wound is he almost fainted! I rushed him to the nearest Hospital & he had 7 stitches on him w a splitting Headache!
The good news is his 9110i is ok, the flowers r ok, His big date is stil set. At least he gained from it by winning the love of the girl or shud i say sympathy! But a big pile of gauze and a lot of tape under your chin wud sure look nasty for a date doesnt it! 😃
I rem asking him how 4tunate he was that his phone was not ruined! he told me that he deliberately shuved his left part of the body 1st to absorb the impact but he didnt manage to raise his head to protecct his face jst to save his phone! 😃
And till now he never ever wanted to go w m wen im driving anything w wheels on it, especially 2! 😃
I`m sure that we would do the same for are phones though perhaps not that far.
I know its kinda long! The other details are jst hard to be omited!
But i hope u ppl enjoyd it!
Wud surely appreciate if you have othe phone stories you can share w us!
I`m sure that we would do the same for are phones though perhaps not that far.
Well the question is how far are u willing to go?
To my last pint of blood
And i thought i was the only one! Well i know its bizzare! bt gud for u! I jst think that we shud rily fight for wat we have coz its rightfully ours and not jst for others to take! Ppl dnt have any idea how mch sweat and blood it costs jst to own one of em! i think its jst human nature to put up a rily gud fight! in my case... to the end! Unless ur a wuss! (not u! 😉 )
I know that its jst money and that it can be earned agn! bt my point is, the time & effort u lost to get there that is rily hard to forget.
i completely agree with money is beside the point here.
Since were trading phone bubu stories, let me share one of mine.
it happened last year my 9210 was 3 months old then. we had an event at rockwell mall. After amazing everybody on my staff on stuff that my phone could do. I placed my phone on my backpocket and went on with my business suddenly the phone rings and as i reached for my phone, i clipped the radio (those motorola talkabouts) hanging my belt so my phone does a summer sault 5 feet high and lands on the cobblestone driveway. The PAIN, the SHOCK. Suddenly everybody stopped whatever they were doin and stared at me. The PAIN, the SHOCK and the very obivious worry look on my face.
As i approached my phone the PDA side openned and the battery was lying next to it. I immediately re-placed the battery to check for power. To my surprise WE HAVE HANDS. YES WE HAVE HANDS. Waited to complete reboot and tried the phone call, txt, recieve txt. Yes its ALIVE.
The phone was fine and escaped with really ugly scratches. Was i LUCKY...
Moral of the story---- dont get those damn handheld radios! 😃
Another cool forum... Ive got a phone story, it didnt happen to me but to my GF... she was walking home with her phone on silent mode in her bag...she was already a few meters from her village when a man approached and held her shoulder tight so she could not turn around, she then felt a hard object poking her side, looking down she saw what seemed to be a gun and the man asked her hand the bag over... nervous and in shock she said "maawa po kayo"(have pity), and then the man said ok just the phone...she handed the phone and the man left...good thing she only had an 8210 which I gave her
if it had happened to me, I might have put up a fight for my communicator.... but then again, it depends on the situation
it's stupid to risk your life for your phone, you can always buy another one. So what if some mugger stole your phone or something, think of the newer models you can buy. think of it this way, you may lose a phone worth say 15-30k in PhP depending on the model, with your future income its not worth the risk to your life. I heard a story of this guy who fought off some muggers who are trying to rob his rolex watch (definitely more expensive than any of our phones) he died of a stab wound. The mugger's modus operandi is like this, they always have a sharp thingy (knife, icepick, cutter, etc...) which they would use should you fight them, and they almost always have one or two backup buddies just in case... if you know what I mean, so unless you have eyes at the back of your head just give them what they want. 8)
Had a classmate back in college who was stabbed with an icepick right under his armpit, he didnt make it to the hospital..... he was walking in Quiapo with a flashy bracelet (Stupid!!!), a man snatched his bracelet and ran.... he ran after the man and when he caught up with him, he was stabbed..... that was how the witnesses related the story.... they didnt find the snatcher.....
first of all ........ what the hell was he doing with a bracelet in that area....
second... what the hell was he thinking running after the snatcher...
third.....what the hell am I talking about... the topic is about the communicator..... 😃 😃 😃
Not risking anythin for my 9210i...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x
