Perhpa it is the display quality. Which display is better--7650 or 3650 or are they the same. Pics look sharper to me on the 7650.

I think there was a thread on that. Search for it, you'll find some pictures attached. I think the quality is pretty much the same.

Yes there was,there i described a test i've made with a buddy of mine who works for a local NSC(I don't own a 3650).The camera is the same,i don't know what jimmy meant by "its the cmos" and yes,the lens might be better.After the test we concluded that in most condition the 3650 has a slightly better picture quality(notice the most and slightly) but it has better video quality(With nokia's recorders,ETIcam was not released then)

I read (here I think!) that out the box the 3650's software is slighly better in that there is less compression of the pictures after taking them, hence a better quality.
Everything is the same, lens, camera just the software written inside it.
But combine that with Photographer and you get even better pictures.

I had a good close up look at a neighbours 3650 earlier and I must admit to noticing that the screen didn't seem to be as sharp as my own 7650, almost as if you could see the lines of pixels more in the horizontal plane, looking almost grainy. It may have been me but it did seem that way. I know it's the same size, type etc. so in theory there should be no difference.

Still want that MMC slot in my 7650, but thats another story.

I think we should do a poll. I agree with you that the screen on the 7650 seems sharper than the 3650. Sharper images, hotter colors etc. Even with the settings the same on both cameras, side by side everyone I have asked goes with the 7650 display as better picture quality.

This topic has been covered before,REALLY covered,so i don't see a reason for reopening it only to get the same conclusions.

and what conclusion would that be? It seems that those of us (including me and a few others) who have done a physical comparison come out differently from those who have just read the specs. I think this shows--or at least points in the direction that the specs are not correct (or there is some other feature of the display aesthetic design that makes one display image seem different than the other--casing texture, casing color or shape are but a few examples). I also don't see any harm in continuing a discussion even if it has been covered before. New input, which is what I have added here (since noone else but ST@RR and myself has done a physical comparison--at least that I am aware of). Also, no one has mentined anything about industrial design and the effect, or perceived effect on the actual image output.

Well,for one,the specs don't say which phone has a better screen or image quality or video quality.Most of the conclusion here were based on tests.Even that it might surprise you,many of the 3650 users were 7650 users or still are so physical comparison has been done by more people,not just by you and ST@RR. I have done it for one.

I don't see any harm in continuing this discussion but I don't see no gain either,you would be only recycling the topic because if you bothered to browse the forum you would've found out most of the info you needed.

The sharper screen issue dates from waaay back and its been gone through many times.

There are cases with lower quality devices(Made by Nokia)that have slightly yellowish screens or no usable night mode.In some 3650 firmware's the contrast level was lower then normal and needed to be adjusted to get good visibility on the screen.That might explain the sharper 7650 screen in some cases

In the comparison I've made(7650 vs. 3650)I couldn't find noticeable difference in the screen quality.

You might say:Oh,I just compared a 7650 and a 3650 and 7650's screen is sharper!! So what,it has been said before,many times.Your case wouldn't stand in court,no conclusive evidence.

And once again,you would be recycling the topic.

BTW: I own a 7650.

I also own a 7650 as well as a 3560. I have taken both to the Hong Kong University Audio Visual and Imaging lab today where my friend will test (for free) the same pic at the same resolution on both phones. I will post the results when they become available. My money is on the 7650. Perhaps you can arrange for a similar test. Regarding specs, I am talking about screen dimensions, stated resolution, built in camera etc.

Sorry, forgot to log-in. The previous post was from me in my seemingly endless, and fruitless quest to prove GhostDog wrong. While i admit it is a tough--if not impossible task--hopefully I got him on this one. On a serious note, this experiment should prove for once, as a matter of visual science that the 7650 display is of better quality than the 3650 even though Nokia maintains they are the same.

I'll be glad if you got me,I can always say my screen is better!! To a guy that is sticking a 3650 in my face 😊 But the problem is this,even if you prove that the 7650's screen is better,it might be the case with only your devices,so in order to prove the same generally,you'll have to take at least 100 3650's and 100 7650's and do the same test 😊
