syncing contacts & calendar with linux

Is there anybody who knows where to find the specifications of the standard sync protocol which nokia uses to sync ?
Because we have the need to sync our nokia with a linux client and we did not find any existing programs which are able to do this.
So we are planning to build our own.

I'm afarid I cant really help with this. A thought did occur to me. Should something be able to be achieved through SyncML?

That is a possibility but i don't want an extra program running on the phone with the same functionallity that is allready build in.

Again i want to bring this toppic under attention.
Is ther anyone who has the Nokia Sync protocol spec's or knows where to get it ??
I have searched and searched but could not find it.
Please help !!!

Try posting to Forum Nokia or contacting them directly. Or you try the newsgroups of SymbianDevNet.

There is a an Econnect SDK I think which may have more information.

Well, we always have the simple User posted image solution of taking a dump of whatever goes on the serial port and figuring out what the PC suite does and how the device reacts and doing the same.

Sorry User posted image, couldn't resist. Nokia really makes it hard for us to like them.

I've tryed Nokia but they hwere not at home.
I also have tryed listening to the port. And now i know why the syncing process is soooo slow. User posted image
It looks like all of the contacts, even if not changed, will be read to the pc.
For syncing a contact db with about 5 persons you will get about 20 pages User posted image of communication log on the port.
I don't want to figure this coding out if someone has the spec's. User posted image
