Fax software for the P800

First of all, do a search next time first. Then you would have easily found an answer.

There is a hope though. UIQ v2.1 has the fax capability.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (as if I need ask!) but my understanding is that the hardware doesn't support Fax's. So no software or firmware update is going to change that.

Same as the R380. You can forward to a Fax number, use fax via e-mail or SMS if you want, but there is absolutely no way to send a fax via the P800's built in modem 'cause it doesn't support it.

It really mean receiving and sending fax on the device.

But UIQ 2.1 is merely an interface to the Underlying OS. And the OS sits on top of the hardware. So, if the hardware doesn't support Fax capabilities (and I don't think the P800 modem does), then a UIQ update to 2.1 isn't going to change that.

Fax messages are basically graphic bits. On a desktop, you only need to have relevant software in conjunction with the modem and it works. If P800 already have a modem, able to view images and video, the OS supports fax function, I don't see there will be extreme difficulties.

The modem has to support fax. We don't know if their modem hardware supports this. It is quite difficult to implement the FAX protocol in software. if the hardware doesn't support it, I very much doubt we'll see this feature.

As I have said before RTFM. It states that there is no fax modem on the P800. Give it up guys, without a h/w change it ain't gonna happen.

Get a yac fax and forward your fax number to that.
