I obtained a word document containing information to send free text messaging. I do not know if this works yet as I am still waiting for my 3650. But also i'm slightly cautious of what it might do to the phone.
The instructions were as follows:
"Type your normal message. When you send type 541 before your friends number
Eg. 541040233623
After send it you have to turn off your phone straight away so it wont charge you money."
I strongly advise you to be cautious if/when trying this as I dont know the effect it has. It may render your phone unusable or locked.
I wanted to know if anyone has ever heard/tried this before. Or if anyone has a nokia they are getting rid of to maybe try it???

Must be a hoax/scam. Besides, since the billing data records for all SMS messages sent are generated in the operator's network, turning off the phone has no effect whatsoever, if the message center has already received the message.
Also, since it is your own operator's message center that receives the SMS (& tries to deliver to the correct operator), for this to work, this "code" should be recognized by all operator's message centers, if it was to work.
The only effect it probably has is that the operator's message center doesn't have any place where to deliver the message, and if you have message notifications set, all that will happen is a non-delivery notification to you after some operator-defined timeout/number of retries.
