Quicktime! The 3650's new best friend!

Apple have just released Quicktime 6.3 + the 3GPP (separate download) component.

I have yet to try it out *waits patiently for it to download* but it would seem like it could easly be the best way to convert almost any movie format into a 3GPP MP4 for playback on the 3650.

Also means the the standard movies recorded on the 3650 will play in ANY Quicktime based application.

Mac users should also be very interested in iSync 1.1 as it now has more support for the 3650 and will offer total support in the not too distant future.

Happy Days Indeed! 😃

Downloaded, installed and tested.. so easy to use, and works perfectly on my new 128MMC card I just bought today!
Apple made me a happy guy indeed 😊

I brought a video from my 3650 to my Mac with Bluetooth and it won't play in the new Quicktime. It says that the video is in a file format it doesn't understand. Is anyone else having this problem?

so waiti m confused, does quicktime player go on ure phone or is this just something u dowload on ure comp to make those crappy 3gp movies?

Yes! It's for downloading onto your computer making those 'crappy' 3gp movies.

Blimey! There really is no pleasing some people! Nokia used to run an advert which showed a girl watching a horror movie on her phone, I used to think that that kind of thing must be years away. Now I'm watching my own home movies (and DVD's) on my own phone, and to be very honest with you the reduction in quality aint that big, WOW! 8) 😉

I have a problem with converting files to 3gp, video is converted but not the sound, in exporting options sound tab is disabled because it says that there is no audio track 😮 , but it has a sound track. And how can I open divX movies to convert them, quicktime doesn't support them?

Just downloaded Quicktime 6.3 and the 3gp component. Can I now convert .mov files to 3gp files on the quicktime player? I cannot see anywhere I can do this.

You downloaded it, but you have to register it to make it a Pro version. Then you can import and export files (convert them).

I was delighted with this news so I finally went and upgraded to QT Pro (for Windows). But no matter what export options I choose I cannot get a playable 3GP file 😞

Yes, I've upgraded to 6.3 and downloaded the 3GP component. Starting with both AVIs and MOVs I've chosen all sorts of frame rates and audio rates, etc, etc and all to no avail.

The weird thing is that as the export is happening a HUGE intermediate .3gq (yes, that's .3gQ) file get created even when starting with a small .MOV. For example I started with a 3Mb .MOV and the intermediate .3gq grew to 155Mb. When the export was finished this became a 155Mb .3gP file. I tried to open this .3gp file in both my newly upgraded QT and in my Nokia Multimedia player and only got error messages in both.

Any help would be appreciated.

Bottom line is, unless the 3gp movies end up being better quality then the rm files, no one will use this unless they dont know better

Odd, I've had no problem at all. I find a 11fps, 176 wide, MP4 based .3gp using the 'speech' sound setting makes for a really lovely movie. And I've even managed to encode some video at 24fps using the H263 codec and it played on my 3650 at between 20 to 24fps! 😊

Are there any FREE or shareware apps that will export to RM? I would like to compare quality between Quicktime's MP4 and Real.
