iSync 1.1 release for Mac OS X - has anyone tried it yet

I've just downloaded it and when you run isync and ask it to look for a new device it finds nothing.

My mac is paired witht the P800 and vice versa.

NOT IMPRESSED.

I'm now going to see if the address book can see the P800 and try it that way.

Hi, back again.

OK, so I downloaded the new isync and had to delete my pairings and set them up again from scratch.

as I type this, my P800 is isync'ing, BUT it comes up with this error message:

|P800| Could not establish connection to P800
Can't synchronize contacts to P800: device is not available

😞

Syncing starts and then can't negotiate a connection.

I expect a 1.1.1 very soon - I'm sure they're scrambling as we speak...I trust Apple to deliver what it says it will.

Works great for me, I've got old firmware on my P800 though (from December).

No calendar syncing yet, maybe with the vCalendar support they promise us in the next UIQ.

I have also downloaded the Bluetooth update, but I still can't get it to sync with my phone, everytime I try, even though it initially connects I get this.

Anyone any ideas?

I have iSync 1.1 and the bluetooth update.. After some trial and error.. Unpairing the phone, pairing from the phone to the laptop and vice versa I can FINALLY regularly sync. (Only took about 2 hours of fiddeling..)

Apple states on their site that cal and todo will happen soon.. personally Id like to see them update contacts app, to get the sms and voicemail / answer finctionality back for the p800..

If you look at the apple isync discussions you will see that LOTS of people are having the same problems, I expect to see 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 out shortly too.

Okay, I downloaded the upgrade but I can't make it work. First I download the Dmg file, then that opens to the driver ISync icon I click on that the Isync package appears I click on that it does something for half a second but my Isync still reads version 1.0 What am I doing wrong? I also downloaded the bluetooth upgrade and that installed, same with the new Quicktime.

Help?

Syncing works fine for me, but all email addresses and phone numbers disappear from the contacts.

Does anyone have the same problem as me?

Same problem but only for one contact...

OK, I have the cure.

I sat on this all night last night, f***ing around.

Anyhow, because of my broadband connection, my Mac is always running with the Firewall turned on.

So, I turned the firewall OFF, and ran isync and HEY PRESTO, it synched first time, no corruptions, just a perfect sync.

So, Firewall off = synching OK.

Just need to remember to turn it back on. I wonder what port number it is using so I could enable just that port.

Good luck Guys !

Other forums have also suggested that, when you update the bluetooth system on the Mac, you should remove all pairings and repair the devices. Somehow the update causes the pairings to malfunction.

As to firewall problems, I'm not sure about that. At a guess it may be something to do with isync trying to sync online (to .mac I suppose) before starting bluetooth up and the error message is somewhat misleading. IIRC, it uses WebDAV to sync online, so if you can find what ports that uses, try punching the relevant holes in your firewall and see if that makes a difference.

OK, I'll try the firewall suggestion soon.

What I'm also concerned about is that Bluetooth support got somewhat wary, too. I've upgraded to the latest Bluetooth Support release and am using an ACER Bluetooth USB adapter on OSX 10.2.6.

Before the update, Bluetooth support for my P800 was ok for sending files using the adapter (it was even better with a Keyspan USB adapter - it worked a lot better than the ACER one from the beginning), but now, with the latest release, things have changed again.

Basically, I'm able to connect at one time and perform a Sync. The next time, it might work or not, but usually when I shift Bluetooth from "Visible" to "On" on the phone, I get another try. The third time, however, connecting to my P800 does not work and I have to remove the phone and re-add it. Then I get another try, two at most.

Anyone sharing my experiences?
