WAV Files

Iv been looking through all the WAVE posts but have not seen any sort'v answer to my problems.

Iv got a set of about 6 WAV files. They zipped and quite big (700-800kb). Iv unzipped them just to see how big they actually are and there doesn't seem to be that much of a difference.

However. I sent it to my phone (zipped) thinking that it would be able to fit on my phone (I have 1.7mb free) but just when it nearly finishes downloading onto my phone i get a message saying i dont have enough space and that i need to remove some programs.

From reading other posts it advises people that they can decrease the WAV file size by using Sound Recorder and cutting of parts of the track. I did this without problems and got the file size down to 60kb.

But when i sent the file to my phone and tried to open it i got an error message saying "Recorder Error" "General System Error"

1. My first question is, how do i get the WAV files to work after editing them using Sound Recorder on my PC?

2. The file size on a pC seems to differ to when i gets on you phone... How do you work out what size a file will be on your phone by knowing its PC file size?

All/any help will be greatly appreciated guys.....

for starters u cant send anything larger than just under 1mb to ur fone. i cant the reason for this but the answer is on the forum somewhere.
secondly if u want to use wav's on ur fone ull find they cant be longer than 9 or 10 seconds else there too big. and they hav to be put in the lowest quality possible.
gettin to ur question the reason ur gettin an error when tryin to play them is because u must of converted it incorrectly.
the file size on ur pc shud be the same on ur fone.
an alternative is using the nokia multimedia converter and converting extracts of mp3s to amr. there loads smaller so u can fit more on ur fone and the quality is still alright.
u can find the converter on http://forum.nokia.com
hope this helps

my wav files are about 300 kb, they sound really clear even at max volume when someone's ringing me and they're not 9 second,s more like 30-35.

Thanx, i managed to get it working by using Sound Recorder and changing the WAV type to IMA ADPCM.

Iv got about 6 different WAVs ranging from 15-45 seconds longs, all under 200kbs aswell.

The only thing that pisses me off is the phones speaker. It seems to be able to play files that use sterio sound, but for some reason only manages to have a mono speaker as far as i can see. It takes a LOT of the quality.

Apart from that, im quite happy with the results!

Thanx Again.

Yeh, i did make sure that i selected Mono, but the quality coming out of the speaker is a lot worse than the Wav played on my PC. I guess its something il have to accept. Dont get me wrong, im stil pleased with the results though. It much better than MIDI and AMR files!!

its a phone!!!
the speaker is tiny!
how can u expect it to sound like your PC speakers!

for that little bit of better quality, there are these cables which in one end, goes into the handsfree hole of your phone, and the other end is a standard phono cable, you just plug it into that dolby 5.1 set of speakers and it'll be a little better quality, and it's still on your phone...can't argue with that can ya
