Wonder if the internal memory (32Mb?) can be expanded
Is it possible to replace the C: with larger one?
The internal memory is 12 MB. As far as I know, it's not replaceble. It's not any standard Hard-Disk... If any-one corrects me on this, I'll be very interested myself too 😊
Well, the internal storage memory(RAM C😊 is 12MB. The internal operating memory(RAM) is 16MB(7-9MB available), and also 16MB ROM memory(Z: and A😊. So if you add it up you get 44MB.
This isn't possible, but why would you want to do this anyway? The file system generally doesn't distinguish between data held on the phone and on the MS Duo.
What I (and probably most other people on this forum) have done is to buy one (or in my case two) 128MB MS Duo. This still isn't as much as I would like, but it is enough for all you apps and data. Unfortunately it's not enough for all my music and videos.
Yes, MSD is the most straight forward solution, but I've heard that it's slower and comsumes more power in read/write tasks than internal memory. Besides, my P800 (HK version) only get 9M internal memory only. :fadein:
I think that this is probably true, but since applications tend to be very small and the only time I ever load much data is for Doom or media files which tend to be loaded as you go along.
The Chinese input and display software does take up extra memory but you should find that a decent sized MS should be fine.
Right. That's why I make most program be installed in MSD while keeping audio ringtone in c:. Still I only get 1.2Mb free in c:, of course I can't expect the phone to fly.
It is difficult to keep the phone's memory free even if you have a big MS Duo. I have installed a small number of apps in C: (eg Tracker and OggPlayer), but every time I install an app on D: some space is used up on C:; I don't know why.
I have just checked and I have 7MB free, so if I knock off the extra 3MB that the Chinese software takes up it still looks like you've got a fair bit of stuff on C:.
some apps might keep on drive C config files and some additional components that need to be installed there. For example fonts.
You can't go around it... but this is rather small amount of memory... fonts is an exception as those can easily take 100kb each

Thanks for your analysis. I did some maths and found that I had 2.5Mb of ringtones in C: AUDIO! I didn't aware it had taken that much space. Now that I slashed the factory built DEMO and got an extra 400k, I get a reasonably large 1.4Mb memory on C: 😉
