If in UK sign up for freeserve.com just need to dial in once evry 60 or 90 dyas or something to keep the accout alive. Its a local rate call and only needs to authenticate so will cost you like 4p over a year or something...

If UK and on Orange, why don't you use www.orange.net, that way you get free sms email notifications too. If not on Orange you may still be able to register I'm not sure but works fairly well, I use it everyday.
