Internal error - 556 for built-in browser — Sony Ericsson P800, P900 and P910

Hello guys,

A friend of mine in Europe is having a problem in his P800's built-in browser. It used to work okey but now it gives an error "Internal error - 556". The Sony Service Center is too far from his home and now he could not access to internet (Opera is not working too due to some settings) except to exchange email with me.

He used "master reset" in control panel and also "Jog dial up, * , jog dial down, jog dial down, * jog dial down , * " to format phone memory. However the built-in browser error still exists and now the phone is in English not in French. 😮

Any suggestion or comments will be highly appreciated.

Don't know about the error, but he can just download the French language file from the SE website again...

Just tested one solution which seemed to work. Copied "browser" and "browser viewer" folder from Z: ROM Drive/System/Apps to C: System/Apps with the folder name "browser1" and "browser viewer1". (Changed folder name because C:System/Apps had the folder browser and browserviewer already.

Then using "file manager", clicked browser.app file in the copied folder "browser1". It worked. (I don't know it will work on the errored P800. We will know soon)
