- Super usage with many appl running
- How often will it hang in a week?
Suvery: How often will your phone hung?
Non of these above options. Mine hung about 4 times in 4 months. So that's about once a month.
occasionally,
i) after received a big file through IrDA
ii) after installing any new app
iii) writing sms (quickly) with stylus
iv) ....
After upgrade to R2F for some 2 weeks, it only crashed once when trying to answer a call in the Sync Station.
I've had my P800 since Feb, use it constantly for pretty much everything, and am constantly installing\uninstalling new apps. It's only crashed once, and that was after installing some application that turned out to be rubbish anyway (don't even recall what it was now).
I'm convinced that crashed are caused more by problems with the network (variations in signal strength, moving from a cell with capacity to a full cell etc) than so called bugs.
It really annoys me when people slag the P800 off as buggy and full of problems. As I say, I've been using it a fair while, it's only crashed once despite me never turning it off (are you listening Mr Gates?) and performs brilliantly.
(ok, I admit the synch software is poor and the camera is rubbish).

are you sure this is the main reason for that?
is there any proof? coz i didnt notice my phone signal when it hang.

I don't have any proof. However, some people are experiencing lots of phone hangs, some (myself included) hardly, if ever, get any. So it would suggest that the phone isn't at fault.
This pretty much just leaves third party applications or the Networks. Now, I have lots of apps installed, am always installing and un-installing new apps so that wouldn't seem to be a problem. Plus I've heard of people having problems who haven't got any extra applications installed.
So that leaves the Networks as a fairly good possibility. And it's not just down to signal strength. If you move from a Network cell where there is capacity to one where there isn't, even if you have full signal strength, you can get problems.
There was an interview in Zdnet a while ago with the guy credited with inventing the cell phone network. When they asked him what he hoped the future would hold for cell networks, he didn't say 3G, or video on demand or anything like that. He says he's still waiting for the SP's to make cell networks work reliably without dropped calls etc.
What is R2F????

My Phone's firmware version is currently R2F. Up from previously R1D.
When i first had my P800 last January, I use to experience at least 3 crashes in a week. After i upgraded to R1D, it occured once a week. Now after installing the lastest firmware R2d, I just had a single crash in over a month now. So I believe that those upgrades are really improving the overall performance of my fone 😊
thhe latest firmware is R2F
What's the difference between R2F and R2D?
What have been patched and what bug is in R2D?
Where can I have the information? url?
I suppose there should be some kind of minor bug fixes. Shouldn't be any additional features from R2D -> R2F.
What is going wrong with my P800? Lately when writing SMS's the screen would fade out and then it will show me the triangle of death. Does anyone know what I can do about this?
An upgrade to Firmware R2B Organizer will fix some of the hanging. One of the documented firmware notes state that it should fix for GPRS crashing when idle.
