Youve seen the gold stylus - How about an Aluminium one?

Hi Guys,
Well, following a good response to my making of a gold stylus 😊 I thought I would try an Aluminium one (several people said that it would be good in Ali) and also I thought I would take pictures along the way to a) show you how its done and b) silence those people who didn't think the gold one was real.

Also, as youll see from the pictures, its made from a solid piece of aluminium because aluminium bar is cheap, whereas gold bar is not cheap, thats why I made the gold one out of an old ring (gold bar is really expensive!!) - just for those who didnt believe.

And yup, the little black tip is actually a strand off of a hairbrush (it is actually a soft nylon) and polish smooth using a nail file (thank my wife heh heh 😊 )

So, get out your hammer and files and get creating....

Oh, by the way, the Aluminium one doesnt feel nearly as nice as the gold one....too light for my liking....

Sorry about the size of the picture, but I thought you would like to see how its done.

Cheers,
Simon 😊

Very nice craftmanship there!

I think anyone who had doubts on your abilities will no long doubt. :shocked!: Seeing is believing. 😊

Vowles,

A true master at work, thats all thats needs to be said! 😃 😃 😃

Oh - where can I place my order?

Thanks Vowles

Well done, I like it better than the gold, although I can see how the gold's weight must feel better.

How do you make the whole for the clip on? and how do you get the right size and polish for it?

Hi Guys,
I use a special drill called a dremel for the hole cutting (uses a micro router bit) and then a polisher to polish it down.

Wow... titanium....um bit hard.. 😊

Although might try wood!!

Cheers,
Simon

Titanium is fairly flexible, i'm sure it would be not too different to Aluminium for moulding. I live in Essex BTW 😃

Hi Guys,
Dont know if anyones interested, but Ive decided to sell the Aluminium one on Ebay.com..

Cheers,
Simon

@musawi

Hi Ali,
The ebay.com link is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3030554700&category=3311 . Or just search for P800 Stylus on ebay.co.uk.

Cheers,
Simon

Whack it in (making sure it clicks and lies flush with it's surround).

Go to the control panel and select Format Disk

Make sure you choose external memory or you'll wipe your phone.

Once formatted (couple of seconds), start filling it up!

(Might be an idea to do a full backup before and after)

Belatedly, back on-topic. As the guy who won the eBay auction for the aluminium stylus ... I'd like to say that, having received it in the post today, it is an incredibly good piece of craftsmanship.

Also, as I've already told Simon, the weight is just right and, before anyone asks: no, the screen is perfectly safe from the nylon (hair brush) tip.

Graeme 😃

Thank you! I used the old eBay tactic of waiting until just before the end of the auction before bidding and, wallop, I was the lucky winner.

Like I said, it's a great item and Simon has done a fabulous job.

In case you are interested, they are factory made silver and gold styli (?) available on eBay from Malaysia or Singapore. And needless to say, I am not representing the product as worth buying, but thought I'd mention it.

Cheers

Graeme

A mate of mine at work is going to try and make some alu ones for me, will let you know hjow it goes, has taken a plastic one for a template.
