Would just like to know if there is any particular setting for this. When I take a Pic with my phone, open the picture and click on Info the time on info shows the time the photo was taken on the phone. However, when I transfer to PC, the time in the photo properties is 8 hours ahead of the time I took the photo. for example, I took the photo at 12:00 noon my time, when I check the info of photo on my phone it says 12:00 pm -- which is correct, but when I cut and paste or beam the photo to my PC and check the properties, it says that Photo was taken at 8:00pm.
Appreciate any help on how to correct this.
by the way.. my home time is GMT +8hrs (Philippines)
You may want to check your PC and phone's time zone.
In your phone, check this
click on control pannel->General-> International
Make sure you have selected phillipiness.
In your PC, check this
Click on your clock(time) on your task tray, make sure you have also select philipiness.
i've experienced this 'bug' from day one of using a p800 back in november...
my pc is set to the correct timezone [western europe, stockholm] and the telephone is also set to stockholm.
file time stamps when viewed on the phone are right, but when transfered to the pc they are pushed /another/ 2 hours into the future [stockholm, during the summer, is +2 hours GMT]
the same, but reverse, happens in the other direction - if you transfer a file, it becomes 'earlier' by the same amount as your GMT offset.
like i said, my phone and PC are set to the correct timezones. I don't sync the time between the two things. i've currently got R2F firmware, but it's done it since R1B prerelease days.
Quite likely to be the sonyericsson connection software i guess... must upgrade that to the latest version <me goes off to do that>

What if you use a memory card reader with the memory stick? Same problem?
I experience the same shifting problem between London and Riga; pictures taken at 06:00 in Riga change to 04:00 when viewed in London.
The implication of this is that the timestamp on the file will be stored in a constant form; seconds since some date GMT (that's UTC to Americans).
Basically this is an absolute time based on London rather than the local time at which the picture was taken. As you change timezones, either on the phone, or on your PC, then the time is re-calculated to show the equivalent "local" time in that timezone. Bloody irritating if you ask me,
since I really don't need to know what time it was in London when I took a picture in Riga. :-?
The PC, by the way, has several little layers figuring out the time, depending on which OS you use; all sorts of things like code pages and Windows itself will offset the constant time by arbitrary amounts depending on your settings.
Of course, it would be nice if pictures kept the local time, but conversly it would be nice if SMS converted it to local, since I find it somewhat disconcerting to have messages appearing up to 8 hours "backwards" in my SMS inbox (often off the bottom of the list) depending on which timezone the sender was in.
SE -- can you add a 'sort by arrival time' mode to those inboxes please? Or threading in fact. That would be good too.
