Hey People,
I have been reading and searching for as much information on this topic but alas I only ever come across the same information. There is no Microsoft Word or Excel Editor for the Sony Ericsson P800. This is such a shame especially since I was having a look at friends Nokia 9210 and was impressed with the Word and Excel application on his phone. If the SE P800 had these applications there would be nothing holding it back!
I understand that the Nokia Communicator 9210 also runs on Symbian... (correct me if I am wrong) so would it also possible in the near future that such applications may be available?
Does anyone know if such applications are in development, or has Microsoft got a special agreement with Nokia and therefore we will never see these applications on the SE P800?
If these applications are in development, does anyone have a date of release of either a beta version or a trial version or even of the final version?
Anyway, any information would be appreciated, if for nothing else but to put my mind at rest.
I'm working on an Excel clone:

I'll probably also do a MS Word app as well.

Yeah I saw that si_lud and from what I hear it sounds great. But I am surprised that only yourself would consider developing such an application, especially with all the crap out there.
Commendations to you, and I do hope you do the Word editor too.
Good luck

Yeah, so I am I! But I suppose someone's got to do it...
many are waiting to see Excel on p800 and ready to buy.
Please keep the discussion open to encourage developers to devlope one.
I think many would be happy to own a light version of excel , just to be able to edit small tables.
I don't care in case I can get any spread sheet , not necessarly Excel compatable.
Regards
I am mostly looking for information as to why these applications are not available on the SE P800, especially since they did come packaged with the Nokia 9210. I just hope that it is officially being developed, I honestly wouldnt care how much it cost, so long as it was reasonable.
Sorry guys that was me again!
I have had a look at this website that develops MS Office products for hand helds and Nokia phones - http://www.cesinc.com
QuickOffice looks excellent but there is no mention of whether any application will be available for the P800. I emailed them nearly a week ago but still no reply. Does anyone have any informaiton on this?

MS Word and MS Excel? Yes, it's a dirty job...
Yes, it's a 'dirty job' for sure...
To clarify, Mobility Electronics Handheld Software (formerly known as Cutting Edge Software) (Nasdaq: MOBE) has been producing handheld software for primarily Palm OS for about the past 7+ years. Mobility Electronics also produces the iGo Juice AC/DC dual-device charging 'brick' sold widely under the Kensington brand name worldwide, and at Radio Shack stores as iGo Juice.
Office software development Started in 1996 with Quicksheet spreadsheet, and now has culminated most recently with iGo Quickoffice Premier v7.1.56. The approach to our applications has always been to cater to the business user, rather than the 'mass market' appealed to by our main competitor in the Palm OS segment.
We have introduced Quickword for Series 60 and Quickpoint for Series 60 (Which works with iGo Pitch PowerPoint presentation adaptor), so it is true we have moved into the Symbian segment in a larger way. We also have joined the Symbian Affiliate Partner program recently.
I can not comment on unreleased products which may or may not be under development, however.
Mike
I hope you guys do have it "under development"!😃 And that you will release it pretty soon off-course
