I installed eDoom the other day. I never got it to work, so i wanted to remove in and reinstall it. But this was harder then i thought. The file is in use and cant be uninstalled or reinstalled. Same message apperar: File is in use.
I tried to force quit to all programs, reboot etc. No luck. Still can un/reinstall eDoom.
All suggestions recieved with thanks 😊
1) This should've been posted in the Symbian gaming forum, in one of the existing Doom threads.
2) What file are you having throuble removing? -edoom.sis or the wad files?
3) Try checking the properties/attributes of the file(s) you're trying to remove using file manager. Make sure it's not set as a "read-only" file.

I've manually removed doom dir and the edoom.sis file. Still i get the message that the file is locked by other device and install cant continue. Same message i get when i try to uninstall it.
Here is the exact error msg i get: The process cannot access the file because another process have locked a portion of the file.
Do you know what i have to delete manually to remove doom. So far i've deleted the dir eDoom and the edoom.sis file. What more is there?
Huh.. Not sure I understand exactly.. Did you manage to uninstall EDoom from the "Applications - Uninstall" menu? Please go into details here.
To me it seems like you've done an improper uninstallation, and that's why you're having throuble reinstalling now.
I remember having throubles getting rid of the wad files(doom1.wad and doom3.wad) a while back when I wanted to replace the shareware version with the full version. When I checked the properties of these wad files using the file manager I noticed that they were set to "read-only", so I simply unchecked the "read-only" box, and that made it possible to delete the wads.
You have to elaborate more for me to understand your problem..
Cheers
The program failed to uninstall. First when i installed it i had problems running it. So i wanted to uninstall it. When i tried that i got the error. Now i know that one of my WAD files was bad.. And i want to install it again. I've browsed trough both my drives and deleted all i can find regarding edoom. This is the files i uninstalled: under C: edoom dir and edoom.sis under install. D: edoom dir.
That was what i could find. Still after deleting this i can't install edoom.sis again. The file i have is ver 1. As far as i know this is the only one 😊 ?
Lets see, you have the "edoom" folder under c: or d: \system\apps and the SIS file in \system\install and the wad files under \media files\document\DOOM and you have the config file under c:\system\apps\edoom. -I think that's it. Have you managed to remove all these files?
Hmm, it looks like EDoom has left a trace in your file system since you couldn't uninstall it properly.. But it's strange that you can't just reinstall it though.
I guess the only way to reinstall EDoom now would be to do a format or master reset to clear up the file system..
Ouch.. hehe.
Bare hyggelig! 😊 Glad you got it working. Remember that you can get all the 4 episodes if you get hold of(or perhaps already have) the full version of Doom. In which case the main WAD file(about 12MB in size 😮 ) has to be named doom.wad NOT doom1.wad, and you can just keep the doom3.wad file as it is. Doom 2 also works in this port, so if you manage to finish Doom 1 you still have 35 new levels to look forward too. Also remember to have a look in the OPTIONS menu where you can configure the controls. Happy gaming! :bday:
I could not understand how did you finally uninstall edoom. I am also stuck with that, If I try to uninstall it says access denied. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Sumith
Someone else here with also the same problem. Installed edoom on my A1000 and now won't uninstall or install again, even though I have removed the files from my device. Please post back with how it is done. Thx! :icon14:

It seems that eDoom won't install unless the "document\DOOOM" folder is deleted. (Must error when trying to create the folder when it already exsists). I removed the folder rebooted my device, reinstalled edoom and it all worked fine. 😃

I solved my problem by deleting file edoom.sis from c:\system\install\, edoom directory from c:\system\apps and DOOM directory from documents. After this Edoom installed, but It didn't work and cannot uninstall itself again. So I repeated first and forgot this dumb game 😊
