Weird Dissappearing Audio...

Ok.. This is basicaylly one of the worst days of my life, this morning when I woke up I notice that my dog had just torn into pieces my new headset adaptor!!! I recently just got Unreal Player and last night I jsut loaded some new mp3s.. heres the story..

Last night, I was at my GF's house. I took out my 128 duo and plugged it in my 7in1 Card reader then copied some fresh new mp3s from my GF. I put the card back on my P800 then went home. I didnt test it anymore since I assumed I wouldnt have any problem. When I got home, just before sleeping, I opened Unreal player and noticed that it couldnt find any mp3s, feeling groggy, just said I will take care of this in morning. This morning, I plugged it in the adaptor, opened it on the PC and realized my MP3 folder was empty?? But the file size left on my MS was still the same.. I tried deleting the folder and it said it wouldnt allow me to delete it... So, I backed up my MS first, then I formatted my MS on the PC.. Lesson learned, Dont do this, it will screw your system up and your P800 will not be able to read your MSDUO! I experimented a lot to solve this problem, tried using another 7 In one reader with a different brand, even worst! My entire Audio folder dissappeared!!!

Anyway.. I was able to restore everything because I had this very old backup of my MS. Always back your MS! Then I placed my Mp3s on another folder oustide the "Audio" folder on the MS then placed it on my P800, then I noticed that all my ringtones were back. From the P800, using trackers file manager, I moved the folder with MP3s back inside audio and finally it worked. Unreal player cannot detect MP3s if they are not inside the Audio folder.

Cause:
I think the MS Magicgate duo sometimes triggers its protection and this either corrupts your data when you use a reader. Funny Thing is, I never had this problem before transferring MP3s..

Damn my dog!!! But I just love this pup.. So, I will order another adpator 😞

you can definitely format your MS Duo on the PC.

You just have to do it properly.

The command is:
FORMAT S: /A:4096 /X

Where S: is your MS Duo.

Then, you put the MS Duo on the phone, and it will create all the subdirectories for you.

This also gives you more room, as it makes the cluster size smaller than Sony's default.

Can this be done on winxp?

I assume the above solution only applies if you have a card reader? I have not - is there any way to do the same trick through the phone? Or maybe through a sony digi camera?

Can you explain what you mean by saying it will give more room?

Thx...

i think the RIAA might have a new type of protection for MP3s so it would mess up your system, might explain ur problem 😃
