P800 Wish List

"1. Firmware support for fax applications"

-Personally I don't need it, but I can understand that some do.

"2. Improvment in camera shutter speed so that night mode becomes acceptable. A zoom function would also be nice!"

-Ok... Don't really care much though.

"3. Video playback is not smooth especially on full screen mode. Packet Video's player is tottaly unoptimized and has a lower fps compared to ReaOne player on Nokia's 3650 (consider ARM9 runs at 104MHz on 3650 while ARM9 runs at 156MHz on P800)."

-A better video/media player which accepts more formats would be most welcome.

"4. SMS delivery report should have a prefixed status in lets say control panel so we could let it always on or always off."

-Don't use delivery reports, couldn't care less.

"5. Control of the screen's contrast (even T68 can do that)"

-Would be nice, but not really a necessary.

-I only use Ogg Vorbis(OggPlay!) which has this feature.

-Don't understand, doesn't affect my PC's processor much.

-That should've been made possible from the beginning.

-I find the signal reception to be very good.

What puzzles me about posts like this one is that all the complainers seems to think that all the P800 users want/miss the same features as they do, and even think that SE should be the ones to implement them. The P800 is already released people. You need to understand that firmware upgrades are mostly meant for bug fixes, not adding more features/functions. You should rather wish for more support from serious 3'rd party software development companies.

Personally, the only things I really miss now is a decent office app, a real foldable IR or BT keyboard or a "Word Complete" app for the virtual QWERTY keyboard. -Anything to speed up/simplify the text entering process. And generally more serious/useful apps.

Anything other than that would just be extras to me, although welcome, not necessaries.

Come on... it's just a phone... even a PDA also have some limitation.

Be glad that we have P800. It already the best phone so far now....

my wish list for P800 now is that all the available app for N7650 being transported to P800 by their respective developer ASAP hehehe ... ambitious isn't it? 😃

What's we are really missing are Office and Camcorder !

Unreal Players out thats a minus on the list.. For me I guess..
1.) Video Recorder
2.) Office editor
3.) Bluetooth Audio Headset Driver so we can listen to MP3 on our bluetooth headset! 😊
These are the two most important upgardes needed.

Great suggestions, we want to improve p800 for the next release. Its a phone and a PDA.

My additions:

1. Jotter sort in alpha or date modified order(call jotter notes like Outlook). I have hundreds of notes.
2. Quick key for keyboard lock in flip removed mode.
3. Undo key in all apps.
4. Numeric keyboard pop-up during call and closes after call, allows voice mail selections.

Would like to add the following

- Calculator in flip close mode
- Alarm to go off when phone is silent (i dont want to turn phone to flight mode)
- Autostart menu (to set what you want to load after the phone boots)

Others:

- Better headphones
- Make a battery out of plutonium or something that lasts for weeks at heavy usage :P
- A standalone battery charger for those who has a spare battery.

And the bluetooth mp3 player will be available soon. The HBM 30, apprarently comes with free 64mb duo.

Hey, its a wish list, Santa might be reading this you know. 😃

1. Multiformat media player, one that supports .avi, .mpg, .mp3, .ogg, .wma.. etc etc, the commonly used formats on computer. Free or reasonably priced, geez, 45 bucks for a MP3 player was really amazingly crazy for me.
2. Video recording function, I don't mind paying.
3. Bluetooth Stereo Headset, hey, its a wishlist.
4. Flash support for Opera, and better Opera browser, I can't even save a darn picture from Opera!? In the inbuilt browser, you can click for few seconds and a menu pops up, what happened? I can't even visit my own homepage becuz its mostly flash..
5. Better voice recording, over the conversation would be nice.
6. Options to remove default programs, so we can replace it with third party softwares once and for all.
7. Cheaper and more accessories, for some reason they are quite expensive compared to Nokia. Its true, not that I'm a Nokia fan and all.

Well, thats all I can think now, and a question about that HBM 30. Can I listen to video and audio through that? Lets say I'm playing a movie file on the P800, can I listen to it using that?

This isn't aimed at you in particular Tissue, loads of people have asked for this, but I think this would be horrendously bad. Yes, I can understand there may be unique circumstances when you don't want the phone to ring, but still want to be alerted to alarms, but surely the huge majority of times this wouldn't be the case.

Putting the phone in silent mode is a consideration to others. Most people can't stand having phones ringing all over the place. Particularly in an office, theate, cinema, resteraunt etc. This surely applies to alarms going off as well. If I put my phone in silent mode, I expect it to be silent. I don't want to go to the Theatre, put it in silent mode, and then have some alarm go off anyway. Silent mode should be just that. Silent.

The only way to get around it would be to have customisable profiles, in which you could specify that you want the phone to remain silent, but the calendar and task alarms to still ring.

But please, SE, if you are reading this, keep silent mode silent!

The above wish list is a sum of all the things people asked for in all the available P800 forums. I only got them collected and also published them on the official SE Developers forum.
It is no case a wish list for my specific needs, its just a list from the people who own a P800 and want it to be the best.
I ve been accused as a Nokia fun that is spreading the weeknesses of P800. If you want me I could collect the wicknesses of Nokia's 7650 and 3650 and then you would see a far longer list. I hate Nokia cause of their service.
Anyway I tried to work out the needs that we all have for P800. Forgive me for doing that.

Id like to have my phone on silent when i go to bed and have the alarm wake me up in the moring. Just like the Nokia phones.
Maybe have an additional option where you select alarm on in silent mode.
