From what I have read they should, but it was said it slows down the phone somewhat. Must be as it's having to search through quite a lot of space etc. to boot and such like. It was suggested to stick to a 128mb card to retain the speed etc.
Obviously I'm a 7650 user so I may be corrected on this.

you are right.

Although the 256 mb MMC issue doesn't seem to have a definitive answer regarding whether it works or slows down the phone, I find it hard to believe it would slow down the phone.

When booting, the phone reads C:\ and Z:\ - not the MMC (unless recognizers are used - but that gets very complicated so I will disregard them for the purpose of this query). The MMC is only used when loading the menu and applications, and when it's loading the menu, it only recursively searches C:\system\apps\ and E:\system\apps\ - nothing like determining every cluster space of the MMC, so I fail to see why it slows it down? Anyone know the real reason?

The only time I expect the phone will slow down with the MMC is while direct I/O is used, and when the MMC is being formatted.
