woke up (luckily before alarm was supposed to go off) and the p800 was sitting there flashing an exclamation mark at me with a pic of the p800 and a diagram of what looks like was telling me to hold button 1 for 10 seconds or something!? :-? the only thing i could do was take battery out and restart.
anyone had anything like this before, know what would cause it? cos all it was doing was sitting there charging overnight.. 😞
cheers

Geee boy
haven't you read your user's manual!!!! ????????????????????
or browse thru the forum before postin such a stupid thang!!!
The answer to your post is:
Such s**t happens for too many different reasons => again browse thru the forum to learn the reasons!!!!
and you don't remove a battery but push and keep the power on/off button 4 10 seconds as the flashing indicator tells you to do so.
@74
Heya 'chessmaster' chill 😃
@gibbon
Happens to me about twice a month, but did not notice a pattern nor any particular reason...
As Matt74 mentioned, press the power button for several seconds... should be nothing to worry about... 😉

the answer to your smarmy reply is thus
such s**t happens because my manual is at my parents house after accidently leaving it there when i went down to see them yesterday. 😞
and yes i browsed these here forums and searched for "exclamation mark" and "error" but nothing was returned that mentions the same kind of error.
and the picture looked like it was the number one it was reffering to pressing for 10 seconds.. hell i was half asleep when i looked at it this morn, leave me alone 😉
cheers for your help, but any other pointers to why this would happen, as i said it wasnt doing anything, no software was running, if this is gunna happen all the time then its gunna be a problem because i need it as a alarm 😞

ok. sorry for a kinda rude tone but that early in the mornin (monday mornin!!!) you can't expect me 2 B runnin happy
right ... you might find some more 'bout it for example here http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6427
or really browse through the forum...
the dreaded x mark is really what we don't like it here
it can come up while sms writing (mine case mostly - FO, handwritin)
playin waves (once only, fortunately)
because of lack of drive C memory ( you really don't want to do it!!! cause you may end up at SE service center)
actually I also got one because of bluetooth stack in P800 is not exactly stable and I was tryin to pair it with my hbh-60 headset
well here you have just a few reasons but there are lots more 😞
anyway read this manual though i found this not exactly helpful unfortunatelly.
and do a thorough search here and other forums - I personally learned here as much as after readin the user's manual.

just want to challange my mind => relentless pursuit of perfection??? 😃
is it bad???

😮 😮 😮 😮
That seems highly unlikely to me. There is even a topic that has "exclamation mark" in the title....
