What i've heard is that SX1 is the only phone that going get an software upgrade to Java Midp 2.0.

Of course i ain't sure.

You shouldnt buy 6600 only because it has MIDP 2.0,there was a review that Nokia will realese an uptade for 3650/7650 for supporting MIDP 2.0

I don't think nokia will release any J2me MIDP1->MIDP2 update to any existing phones, at least that is what they have stated on their Java forums. While it would be technically possible it does not make them any money.

I'm afraid that unikko has a valid point there.MIDP 2.0 will be in the "new" firmware update along with a full screen caller ID picture and support for 256 MB MMC 😉
Yeah, i was aware of that. Nokia never does any 'critical' updates on their phones...
In general 'critical' refers to if there are any problems that means a unit does not operate according to its specification.

And in this case its specification didn't include MIDP 2.0 when you decided to buy it and they probably didn't make any promises that it would later on. Thus there are no broken promises. It's as if you would buy a new car and expect that the manufacturer will replace the engine with a stronger one for free whenever they have one developed. But often manufacturers focus on making sure that a product model continue to meet its original specification throughout its manufacturing lifetime. That specification tells what the product really consists of.
