3650 multimedia messages driving me crazy

4 replies · 3,700 views · Started 18 June 2003

Not having BT or IrDa yet (BT=end of month), I've tried sending apps via e-mail to my phone. To make a long story short, I keep getting multimedia messages with the attached file arriving on my phone. It's driving me crazy since it happens quite often during the day. I woke up this morning to find 10 multimedia messages waiting for me, all of them the same 2 apps. What can I do to stop this?

BTW, the app attached e-mail thing never worked but I managed to get apps (though, not the ones spoken about on this forum) from wap.my_symbian.com.

Thanks in advance for any help.

i feel your pain, ive been feeling like that for the past 3 months, but tomorrow im getting a present in the mail.. :angel: :angel: BT usb 😃

Well, my pain consists of my phone bugging me every so often with a message that I don't need. I woke with 16 multimedia messages the other day. Can't wait for my BT but REALLY can't wait for a solution to my problem. :-?

Sorry if my previous post was vague but here's what's going on?

1st, I tried using the e-mail that T*Mobile gave me (mycell#@tmomail.com). Since that didn't work, I defined a mailbox on the 3650 and linked it to one of my e-mail addresses ([email protected]).

I get multiple copies of the e-mail. One of the e-mails is dopewars (the other is fexplorer). When I go to my inbox, I open it and see the following message:

Subject: dopewars

Attachment dropped:
<dopewars_7650.sis> of
type: <application/
macbinary; x-unix-mode=
0644; x-mac-type=42494E41;
name=dopewars_7650.sis>
---------------------------------------
The fexplorer message goes like this:

Subject: fexplorer

Attachment dropped:
<fexplorer_english_107.sis>
of type: <application/
macbinary;
x-unix-mode=0644;
x-mac-type=42494E41;
name="fexplorer_
english_107.sis">
------------------------------------------

I typed them exactly how they appear on my phone. When I choose "options" then "message details", I get
-------------------------------------------
From Angel Pagan
[email protected]

Subject fexplorer
Date 06-18-2003
Time 3:04 am
Type Multimedia
Size 1kB
-------------------------------------------

Now, the dopewars message details is similar except for the date and time. I sent these apps about 3 days ago and they keep showing up with the current time and date. As mentioned before, I've managed to send some apps to the 3650 via wap.my_symbian.com. The only ones that would go without an error message are Doris, fexplorer (after the fact), bowling, spruce checkers and spruce invaders. Those are the only ones that I could get. I'm at the point where I'm ready to call T*Mobile and change my number but don't know if that'll help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :cry:

Sounds like they are not being deleted from your ISP's server upon delivery to the phone so it keeps retrying.
Perhaps try going to that mail account on your PC.
Download the e-mails and delete them..

Hopefully that will stop it - or remove the e-mail account from your phone.

I'm a little confused when you say they arrive as an MMS thou??
If you are using e-mail and the address [email protected] then this is not MMS it's e-mail.
Unless you are sending to your MMS e-mail addy ([email protected])
In which case the mail is held at t-mobile and it is t-mobile that is resending it. Log onto your MMS account on www.t-mobile.co.uk and delete the message from there.

Best 😊

Will.

willbrady, thanks for your help. I went to T*Mobiles site as you suggested and saw that I had my e-mail account linked to my cell phone. I deleted it and the multimedia messages stopped. Even when you suggested to go to T*Mo's site, I hadn't remembered that I had done what I did so I can't imagine how much longer I would have had the problem if I you hadn't suggested. Thanks a whole heap. 😃
