I deleted everything except the 'index' in C:\system\Mail and now I can't open and/or create a messages. When I try to open or create message, it says 'Messaging: System Error'. I know I have been stupid but please help me ... TIA
note: pls tell me other options aside from hard reset coz i can't back-up my phone right now ...
Most likely you have fuck up your phone.... you may need to reset your phone aka format it.
ya, i guess i f*cked up my phone big time ... i just hope that someone can come up with a solution without using the hardreset.

Try resetting it and it will go back to it's factory settings and pls don't try anything stupid again.
If I'm going to do the hardreset, will files inside drive D:\ disappear? I'm planning to put Contacts.cdb in there so that I can back-up my contacts.
PAL!! You're lucky! I DID EXACTLY THE SAME and I could fix it.
Follow this steps:
(Let me tell you there's nothing you can do to recover the old messages)
- Contact a friend of yours with the same operator and tell him to tell you the MESSAGE CENTER NUMBER
!! NOW YOU CAN SEND SMS !!
- Open the Message Setting and configure an e-mail account
- Try to send an e-mail
- Download your mail
- Send the e-mail again (Now you can)
!! NOW YOU CAN SEND E-MAIL!!!
-As for the MMS what I did Create a New Multimedia Message several times till I got rid of the System Error! stuff
!! NOW YOU CAN SEND MMS !!!
I tell you I could fix it, I hope you can too. 😊

I kinda solved my problem without doing the hardreset and before reding your post Deathmonger. I can now send and read SMS but MMS still won't work. I don't use it anyway so I guess I'm contented right now. Email won't affected for some reason.
Anyway, this is what i did: I copied 4 folders (MMSviewer, MMSeditor, SMSviewer & SMSeditor) from Z:\System\Apps to D:\. I ran MMSviewer.app, MMSeditor.app, SMSviewer.app & SMSeditor.app and then i restarted the phone.
Regarding the MMS, do I just need to try and try to create a new MMS?
My set is nokia 3230. I can't send or open the MMS but works. I do the following steps as you said.
