internet setup

Hi
I have just bought my 3650 and am trying to set up a dialup internet connection over gsm.
I have set up an isp as an access point in the tool-settings-connection menu but when i go to services-settings the access point does not appear.

Any ideas much appreciated,

Paul.

you need to setup a new Access Point.
Set it up as follows:
Tools - Settings - Connections - Access Points - Options - new Access Point - Use Default Settings
Connection Name - Bluetooth
Data Bearer - GPRS
Access Point Name - bt
User Name - None
Prompt Password - No
Password - **** (none - leave it as it is)
Authentication - Normal
Gateway IP Address - 0.0.0.0
Leave the advance settings as they are.

After your done connect your pnone via Infared or bluetooth first and make sure that mRoute is connected. Then connect using IM+ or webviewer.

Samb what you on about - the guy never mentioned using bluetooth to conect to his PC & internet - which does not work for 'services' anyway?
As I understand he just wants internet over GSM?

The browser used in the 'services' menu is WAP only.
The access point will not appear in 'services' untill you have filled in the WAP Gateway IP address...

Does you ISP have a WAP gateway?
You may find it's just a regular internet ISP and do not support WAP.

You can still use it for dialup e-mail and for internet browsers like webviewer, Opera etc..

Best

Will

Ahhh ok I thought he was trying to Connect the phone to the net through his computer as the internet conection instead of using his service.

I feel like a Jimmy-Floyd....
just kidding Jimmy... :fadein:

Thanks for your help. I didnt realise the services viewer was wap only. Ill download another viewer.

Cheers,

Paul.

Oh, while in here i have another question!
I have just recieved a data cable that i bought from ebay. it seems to have a sim card slot and lots of other contacts on it.
Anyone have one of these and know where i can get software and instructions on how to use it?

Thanks again!

Paul.

Hi me again!

Decided to opt for an infra red connection rather than the data cable. Ive installed a web browser called NetFront. I have tried connecting using my dial up access point (which it lists!) but i get a message saying 'DNS host not found'
Any tips would be greatfully recieved!

Paul.

Sounds like you have entered the wrong IP address for the DNS servers.
Most ISP's will issue this when you connect up so you can leave that bit blank.
Or it could even be the other way round - you have it blank but your ISP does NOT issue it as you connect in which case you need to enter it.

You should be able to find your ISP's DNS addy from the help pages on thier web site - or do a search for a public DNS server and enter those details 😊

Hope that helps

Will.

Thanks for that Will, its working now.

Sorry about this but i have yet another question! 😮ops:
I have set up email so i can recieve my messages to the mailbox on the phone. This all works fine, the phone connects, recieves and dissconnects as it should. BUT! i cant seem to be able to delete the messages after i have read them. If i go to options-delete-phone only when i have a message selected it just dosent seem to go.

Thanks chaps!

Paul.

Yeah - you should find that they will 'dissapear' the next time you connect to the mail server.
Bit wierd that 😊
