Stereo Blue-Tooth Headphones

In Bluetooth 1.1 it isnt possible to have a workable stereo headset using the Headset profile, though it should be possible using serial port profile if someone cared to develop it. HOWEVER bluetooth 2 includes a stereo codec as part of it for exactly the point of stereo headphones. This is yet to be ratified and I don't know if the P800 can be upgrade to the 2 specification

I started a thread about stereo headsets about a month ago. I got a dev kit for one that allows has an optional extendable boom mic. It is possible. Will be released around the Winter time. It is light and comfortable. However, the only trouble I've run into is adaptibility with current 3rd part players.

You know the bluetooth mp3 player that SE released, what if I want to listen to say, video or wave files or the like from my P800 instead, can I use that to listen?

I found this on the SE website (and it was a hard search too) Bluetooth� Music Handsfree HBM-30. Is this the product you were talking about? There seems to be only limited information about it on the SE website.

Does anyone know the release date for this? Will it work to answer calls through BlueTooth? 😃

I found this SE product - Bluetooth� Music Handsfree HBM-30. It is stereo but seems to be more of a music player. I have emailed SE so hopefully I get an answer and will post heir reply.

Nokia has a dual sided bluetooth headset, its stereo I believe, and I remember the other Nokia headsets are compatible with P800, I wonder if this new headset is compatible too. If someone would test it out for us..

Forget it, I was misled, check the thing out myself, its not even two sided. :roll:

The HBM-30 is a stereo mp3, atrac player using MS duo, it connects to you phone through bluetooth. When you recieve a call it will pause the music, the callers name or number will show on the players display and when the call if finished the music resumes, i was in stuff a couple of months ago, sorry about the naff picture, had to use my camera flash, but you get the idea.

I just want to confirm this, can I listen to stereo audio or video from the phone through that? I highly doubt so, but I wasn't been able to confirm it anywhere. :robot:

No, its a seperate player. It can be used on its own or as a personal hands free, still have to use built in speaker or wired headset for video. There is a jabra bluetooth adaptor that plugs into a standard 2.5mm jack that would let you hear mono sound from video etc, but it still connects as a seperate box, grrr. Lets hope it can upgrade to bluetooth 2!

its all very well having a bluetooth MP3 player.....but the SE one defeats the object.....there is a wire connecting the headphones to the player......

Im waiting for the day Sony release an MP3 and a Minidisc player, with fully wireless small (in your ear) bluetooth stereo headphones
